BUPA quote Less if Paid Up Front for Year?

Featured Replies

Me 60 years old, might be jumping ship to Thailand by the end of the year.  BUPA online platinum 1 quote was 4975 baht/month.  I have seen some posts that says BUPA discounts it 15% if you pay up front for the year? On the BUPA site, if I select Yearly for the price, it spits out  59700, which is just 4975 x 12. So a 15 % discount is not obvious when selecting a year.  Does the 15 % discount get applied in some other way?  Perhaps when one actually goes through the final application and acceptance and then payment?

Thanks

Most will offer some degree (slight discount) for yearly vs monthly payment, its not too much though.

Check the 'ceiling' of the policy you are looking at.

BUPA Thailand have fairly limited payouts... i.e. the small 'stuff' is covered, but the serious, major issues which may cost millions of baht to treat could leave your policy already maxed out and having to pay the remainder...

If I'm not mistaken the Platinum Policy covers up to 5 Million Baht per year.

Other Policies which may be of interest (which also include direct settlement)

BUPA International (more expensive, comprehensive cover)

AXA (Not the cheapest but comprehensive cover)

MSH (best value for money vs degree of cover IMO)

If you dont make claim within the year, when renewing they give you 10 % rebate.but you have to wait 2-3 months to receive the cheque.

How did you set up monthly payments?  Would I have to or want to get a Thai bank account at the beginning before I even purchase the BUPA?
