MUKDAHARN, 14 July 2017 (NNT) – Mukdahan Customs Office seized a truckload of smuggled goods worth about 10 million baht.

Regional Customs Bureau 2 director Prayudh Maneechote and Mukdaharn Customs Office chief Tawan Rodchit held a press conference on the busting of tax-evading goods.

A group of persons in Thailand had ordered for online purchases of smuggled goods stored in a neighboring country and finally smuggled into this country through Mukdaharn border crossing.

The authorities stopped and searched a six-wheel truck for many smuggled items such as 659 brandname bags, 280 brandname watches, 85 pairs of brandname shoes, 1,228 bottles of nutrition supplementary products, all worth up to 10 million baht and being American brands.

All confiscated items are now being kept by Mukdaharn Customs Office for further legal action.

The officials also discovered a new smuggling route from the United States to Hanoi, Vietnam, Laos, and finally to Thailand across Mekong River from Laos.

Some of us readers still have working d1cks but whatever floats yr boat Sir.....

I can make out Kirkland brand vitamin c. Someone went shopping at Costco!

For a moment I thought these were counterfeit goods seized, really really sad that Thai people have to go to such lengths as smuggling  to avoid being ripped off by their own customs department... Just to get products at the same price as people can buy them in the free world

The free world? Where's that?

Nothing can be allowed to interrupt the obscene mark-ups/profits of CP, Central and the other robber barons.

Is the offence that no taxes were paid on the goods or the goods are counterfeit ?

Just go to any big market or Patpong 1 and 2 and you'll find a lot more than 10 millions worth of this stuff plus some of the shops have police running/partnering them .

I believe a recent raid in Patpong uncovered a box containing 400 ping pong balls  :shock1:
