Help with Customs/DHL

Featured Replies

Hello all,

This is the first time I have tried to ship something from outside Thailand, and I think I should have read the numerous warnings about DHL, etc. It is too late now, so I would like to know if anyone can help with my problem.

Here is the story: I ordered a red light therapy device (used for skin and muscle issues) from a company in the US, and it has now been held in Suvarnabhumi for two weeks. The DHL agent there is asking me for the usual paperwork (passport), but also for a medical certificate. The US company routinely ships all over the world and this has never happened to them. Their product is not a medical device, but more a cosmetic, general wellbeing device. No luck with DHL. They even told me that a medical certificate was needed for electronic toothbrushes!

I am now in France for holidays, where I managed to get a medical certificate from my doctor here, but now DHL insists it has to be from a doctor in Thailand.

Are they being difficult? Is this a way to ask for a bribe? I don't want to be negative, but this is becoming a bit much.

If you would like to see what product I am talking about, you can check out the company's website: www.joovv.com. It is quite a bulky item, so I doubt it would be easier to have it shipped through regular post?

Thank you for your help,

Guillaume

with respect sir    you have being conned not only by DHL/CUSTOMS but also by the  purveyor

of this hocus pocus  so called magic machine

I had problems with a house alarm system. In fact it was the second alarm system I'd ordered. But they wanted to charge me more import duty for the second delivery than the first, even though they both cost the same. After a couple of emails I gave up and told them to stick it. Not a problem.

All the time, that DHL are using  delaying delivery  tactics, the storage fees for your item are

mounting up,so they are making money on delivery and now storage.
