Gen Anupong warns people not to gather for Yingluck court verdict

BANGKOK: -- Interior Minister General Anupong Paochinda on Tuesday suggested that supporters of former premier Yingluck Shinawatra not gather en masse to give her moral support when she hears the verdict in her court case next month.

 

“I understand what some people think but we have to put our country as the priority,” Anupong said. “I wish for there to be order.”

 

Yingluck is due in court on August 25 to receive the judgment for her alleged negligence in preventing corruption and irregularities in the rice-pledging scheme.

 

Her attendance at court last Friday attracted hundreds of supporters.

 

With even larger numbers of supporters expected for the verdict, Anupong has ordered provincial governors to “create public understanding” at the local level. “Giving moral support may be well intended but anything possible can happen,” he said.

 

He said at moment there were no concerns about local movements regarding the matter.

This joke of a trial has already reached a verdict, even before the first day of hearings.  Why do you think they have already begun seizing her bank accounts with impunity? Every sane, rational person in Thailand knew that a "fair trial" was never going to happen between her and the Junta.

Looks like Thaksin already has his. Note in the 'other' paper Red Shirt leader Weng is making familiar threats again (paraphrasing)  that on Aug 1 and 25 the 'handling of people'  coming to the court on those days 'will be difficult'  and finally stating that  'If mistakes happen',  the Govt will cause damage to themselves'..... (sounds like a veiled threat or the outline of a plan to do something and blame the Govt/Army?) One wonders what the Red Shirt leader is either party to, or has prior knowledge of? Seen this movie before, usually really kicks off following seizure of 'family' funds, or losing a court case that didn't get swayed by a pastry bag full of cash  (delivered via Thaksin's lawyer ).

Ok she is a guilty That was decided before the court case began The only verdict the judges were told Find her guilty If she gets off it will be egg on the juntas face Lady you are going to prison They have already decided that Justice in Thailand There is no justice I would of said The Owner of Red Bull is my long lost grandfather Then she would of got off

Well, up to now, she and her legal team have not put forward one shred of evidence or argument to contradict or defend the actual charge.

 

Just the usual "delay tactics, it's all unfair, others do it, it's all political" etc etc. AFAIK she has not offered one explanation as to how appointing yourself to the Chair and then not bothering to attend and chair any meetings, and treating all adverse comments and warnings about the scheme with contempt isn't negligence, in the extreme.

 

But please do correct me if I'm wrong. 

 

Remember she herself repeatedly said she and only she was in charge.

No gatherings in a radius of 5km. around the Courthouse from August 18th. Enforced by police and army, all trespassers (from the first ones on...!) loaded up in caged trucks and transported to some armycamp to cool down for a few days or a week, 'hotheads' straight to the Court and minimum a month in gaol.

Days before August 25th already, all buses, trucks, etc. to Bangkok stopped and searched, all the ones  carrying possible red-shirts, after scanning in all ID-cards, quarantined for 12 (or 24 hours) before being returned home under escort.

Voilà!

Scum and thugs making the law in the streets are no part of democracy, they pretend to be democrats, so they will understand that, LOL!

Perhaps you could keep your chaps from getting bored whilst standing around for the seven days you have them on the streets by organising some concurrent activities to set the tone for your "brave new order"?

You know the sort of thing. Burn some piles of books, enforce a few boycotts of businesses owned by the wrong sort of people, set some of those reds to scrubbing the streets at the risk of a public beating?

They and the rest of us will soon get the message as to the kind of world you hanker after...

Who knows, if your ideas are a success the regime may last for a thousand years?

The new Chinese tanks & submarine have yet to be delivered, so the old arms would have to be used, if indeed something kicks-off.

 

But I think the current-PM is making it fairly clear that he hopes that it won't, let's hope that the situation remains peaceful on both sides, and that political-leaders don't try to stir up trouble with inflamatory remarks, we saw where that led in 2009.

In this atmosphere of fear and intimidation and the junta reckless abandon in finding causes to use the law at the drop of a hat, no one dare to make any remarks and certainly steer clear of any any inflamatory tone. They are on a spree of silencing dissent and even witness to the Wat shooting by charging the nurse. Rest easy Ricardo. This is junta time.

You may have missed it, but this junta has nothing to do with democracy, they are all about dictatorship, plain and simple.   They also overthrew a democratically elected government.  Not the world's best government, for sure, but elected by the people of Thailand.  So it is up to the people of Thailand to deal with their bad government.  That is NOT the job of the military.  In fact, the military just makes things worse every time they interfere.

 

Prayut and his backers are traitors and must be charged with treason and jailed for life.
