Annual police review awaits final decisions on some posts

BANGKOK, 28th July 2017 (NNT) - The latest meeting to discuss police affairs still has not reached a conclusion on the annual transfers and promotions related to some posts.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon on Thursday chaired a meeting of the Police Commission, to consider an agenda that included the appointment of senior police officers ranking higher than colonel, the positions of special advisors and those at the advisory level, to succeed officers who will retire this year.

The meeting also discussed some vacant senior positions, which are pending appointments, but reached no conclusion on the issue.

Concerning the meeting of the committee in charge of reform of the justice system, which took place on Wednesday, Gen. Prawit said that everyone should allow the committee to complete its work and stop speculating about what might happen.

Meanwhile, national police chief Pol. Gen. Chakthip Chaijinda declined to comment on the committee’s plan to review the origin of future police chiefs, saying it is improper for him to say anything because he is one of the committee members.

Such a waste of time. Just keep them empty, they will be filled soon enough with people that will be put on leave or transferred out of the heat they shitstormed themselves into.

"......the positions of special advisors"

Why is this news? I suspect the public are not in the slightest bit interested in the shuffling of the deckchairs at RTP HQ. The lucky ones go to the top of the Distribution List.

"Special Advisors"???? Is he referring to the perks of office of highly paid "special advisors" to corporations like the booze conglomerates?
