This would probably be more productive if it were in the Phuket or Huahin forums??

Best to wait until you arrive in TH. Best place is to look in Phuket, specifically at Boat Lagoon marina, Royal Phuket marina.,Yacht Haven and the Ao Chalong Yach Club (bit of a misnomer but great place for such). Just go there, check the bulletin boards and walk the piers (free to all), do this before contacting brokers,. Many boats are not advertised but will have a "for sale" sign on at the docks. If you apply to the boat owner directly can probably save the 10% commission that the yacht brokers (many such at the marinas) charge. The marinas I listed have boats of all sizes and the people are generally a friendly lot. If you find a possibility you will certainly want a detailed inspection by a chartered surveyor, several such here on Phuket and the bay is a great place for a sea trial. The survey should cost about US$800-1200 and will take all day plus sea trial (you want/need to do this, trust me).
