A simple question to those in the know (not me!).  I have been unable to get U Tube of the last day or so on  my Thai ISP. But, using my VPN I can get it quite normally through London.

What I am unclear about is why?. Do the Thai authorities simply block these sites from time to time or what?.   I have limited understanding of the intricacies of ISP's etc., although I do understand the problems with access to the BBC I player. i.e. it's the BBC sleuths causing the loss of availability. But, never had a problem before with U Tube.

Is my paranoia about Thai big brother justified?

Thank.s very much

No problem here with a thai isp.

I suggest something else is creating the issue.

No problem with bbc or itv either if you use psiphon ( free) or go to teatimetv.to for british tv (free).

No problem for me getting Youtube......in the past or now.  In fact, both the wife and I have watched a couple hours worth of Youtube yesterday and today.  I'm on AIS Fibre in  Bangkok.  Sounds like you probably have an issue with your iSP whoever that is.

Hell would brake loose if youtube or facebook were totally blocked and it would make big headlines.

Only specific content might be blocked but very unlikely touching your interest.

What exactly happens if you try to open https://www.youtube.com/ ?

Specific error message or what?

Thanks for those replies. Very helpful. Must be an ISP problem (ToT). My viewing habits on U Tube are very 'normal' !! - if you follow me.

A bit more feedback. I seem to have solved the problem. It appears to be related to changing my DNS earlier to accommodate a subscription service for UK channels. I managed to delete the DNS and set the computer to selecting its own DNS. (What this all means is beyond me).  Anyway, I can now get U Tube and the BBC home page etc. Thanks again.   Still no luck with I player but I'm using MuchoTv , which is only a few bob a week and works out of Spain.  thanks
