Both Bangkok airports have been named as some of the best timekeepers in the Asia Pacific region by a US survey.

The local airport authority said the results showed the excellent service provided at Thai airports.

Don Muang was named fourth best and Suvarnabhumi 10th in the survey conducted by www.flightstats.com.

It was based on 10,000 flights out of Don Muang and 13,820 from Suvarnabhumi in June.

The stats relate to departure times from both airports.

Nitinai Sirisamatkarn said that the US organization gather "real time" data about airport performance all over the world.

The results are testament to the excellent work being done by his authority to improve the airports in Thailand, he said.

Wow ,that would be the only place in Thailand that keeps running on time.you can go Anywhere in Thailand and they wouldn't know time or to be on time.

That´s not under timekeeping. It´regards public safety. What if a start is 1 minute to early and a landing is 2 minute to late???? You dont need to many wheels in the head for get a grip of that one!

It's only because they must adhere to international standards and rigorous

testing otherwise, they would be polychromatic just like they are in the rest of their lives!

I have to agree.   My flights leaving  Suvarnabhumi   almost always  leave on time.    I have not had that luck with flights leaving the USA.

Hmmm.!  Is that why the drivers of the BTS lines manage to slam the doors of their trains whilst people are halfway across the platform from a connecting train at Siam Station.  IMHO the drivers actually enjoy watching everyone rushing to their half empty train, slamming the doors and then have to wait for the next train.  And please do not tell me the fifteen seconds they might have to delay would really affect anything.  Siam is the only connecting point and if it does affect the operating system, then the schedules are not properly set up.    During rush hours I can understand them doing this, but not in off hours as happened again to me at 12:28 PM this afternoon.

BTW, spent 55 years in transportation so I do have a bit of a grasp on these things.
