Reading this on another thread re marriage extension.

I got held up a 2nd time for not having an "MFA Certified copy of my passport" with not enough days left for another MFA-cycle, at that point.

 Tentative Ret extension query;

Pics from Retirement Visa Extension  requirement sheet recently obtained  at Phuket Immigration Office .

At first I thought certified  meant notarized.   Some general  members  have  stated it means just signing copies.

Can one of the mods please confirm the definition of certified.

And / or   whether I must/might need to have my passport certified at  MFA ?

Thank you.

This has been answered in your previous threads.

At every Immigration officer the procedure of signing copies of your documents in your own signature is the same.

You are 'certifying' it is a genuine copy of the original document.

That quote by the OP appears to refer to:   "affirmation of freedom to marry document".

See the posts on page 1 of this thread:

But, hey, any excuse for yet another thread by the OP.

Yes, that was it.  Though if you need anything stamped by the MFA, they are requiring 10 or 15 days remaining on your current permission-of-stay, in my recent experience.  My situation involved marriage at amphurs, and some discussion of "conversion" of a TR-entry to a Non-O in Thailand at the Jomtien office - which differs from an annual extension of either marriage or retirement.

This would not apply to the OP, because hers was in the context of a retirement extension in Phuket.  Based on others who have done retirement-extensions in Phuket recently, this requires the income-doc stamped ONLY by the embassy (not the MFA, too), and a copy of the applicant's passport-pages with those copies signed by the applicant - not certified by the MFA.

My query is not about marriage but retirement.

I believe there are many differences in requirements.

The other thread is about marriage and a lot of other problems.

My query is about a definition of a term.

The  other thread  is about something else but has a sentence I have a question about.

  Thank you  for this  reply.

My worries are really about a requirement list ( pictured ) I was given that seems to be different from others- although I have not yet gotten a response about where exactly lists being posted up on  Phuket forum are coming from, but do not contain the term certified and are far less vague  and  confusing.

Trying to figure out whether I'm going to have to comply or not  with requirements that are on the sheet I was given such as a trip to BKK MFA,  if so,  will undertake other options.

Gee, I feel a new thread coming on...

 I'll ask here

If I am refused an  Ret Extension, do I get my Embassy Affidavit back?  I can pay for a new visa with what it'll cost me to get another one.

In the part blanked out in your list, why was it whited out and what did it say?  Was it from Immigration or an agency source?

My experience is, they don't take your money or keep your docs if they are "incomplete".

If anyone else who uses Phuket immigration can confirm, this would be great - because then you can try what you have, and hopefully all goes well.  If they want something you don't have, you can let us know, and future applicants can know there is a new hurdle.

It's just a phone number of someone else.

That sheet was given to me  in room 103 Phuket IO

It's vague, confusing and has different info from what has been posted  on the Phuket forum which is not vague or confusing but is thus far lacking a source .

" Dear Mr IO,  according to what you gave me, I have to have 800 K  and my passport certified, BUT  I got this sheet from the expat forum, these are the requirement rules, not what you gave me. "

Yes but once you give over docs, and money, then you forfeit the money. 1900  lost +  travel to Bangkok for new IA + 1,750  then on to a consulate, over night accommodation for a new  O  travel back .

Ugh.

Ugh.

Your confusing the process at Immigration with that of an Embassy/Consulate.

At Immigration you submit your documents, they either approve the application, then you pay OR

they refuse the application and return your documents.

As I wrote before in your other topic. It means signing the copies.

I got a writer's cramp this morning signing all the copies for my extension of stay based upon marriage this morning before I went to immigration.

Hey Joe, Transam does all the singing, you do the signing.

Then again you might be a better singer than Transam.

I fixed my little typo. I wish I could teach spell check to catch those.

Ar you technically supposed to do it in front of them?  Once I had to go and get all new copies to sign in front of them.

Thanks  Ubon Joe for all your help- I just think I was given a sheet by IO that means to make me catch on fire from  flamed hoops.

Can I ask please if you think I can get that Income Affidavit back from the IO  if my appli is denied ? I try  that first if so..

You don't have to sign the copies in front of them.

If they don't accept your application you will get everything back.

f they accept your application and you pay the 1900 baht fee it will be approved. They check everything is correct before you pay the fee.
