Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha on Tuesday warned all politically motivated groups to adhere to the law, saying that problems in the past had escalated partly due to violation of the country’s laws, as well as a failure to enforce them.

The premier said he did not prohibit freedom of expression, but stressed that people should not violate the law.

Security officials are assessing the situation, as well as preparing for the coming funeral of King Rama IX, the PM said.

They will focus in particular on ensuring peace and order and the government’s stability, he added.

Prayut spoke after attending a meeting of the National Council for Peace and Order.

Did he warn the RTP and all governmental staff to observe the law and not to act corruptly.....no sorry, forgot to mention that!

Slipped my mind.

Could you imagine this guy in a football match?

"I'm warning the opposition to follow the rules, if we foul you then don't complain or talk too much because we don't want any problems with winning this game".

He does such a great job - but he can't quite work out why nobody wants to play with him.

In other countries it's simply called the political opposition !

In other countries people are allowed to protest - but must behave in accordance with the law.

We have seen violent clashes in the USA, Germany, France and Italy where people protesting have acted outside the law.

The political opposition usually refers to the parties not in government. Not street protesters.

Yes, such as illegal overthrow of a democratically elected government to be replaced with an unelected ruler who governs with absolute power. Such a situation cannot be tolerated.

Would anyone expect anything less within an elite/dictatorship infrastructure?

Any commentary or discussion amounts to rhetoric.

Or the violent street protests orchestrated to promote the interests of one particular political party after it's absent criminal leader has some of his vast wealth seized.

And you'll be reminded that such repressive activity has be ongoing for decades, regardless of sitting government.

Contemporary Thai history recycled, yet no one seems to understand the significance of it all.

Great sense of humour and delivery from a gun-toting coup leader.
