Hi all,

I hope somebody of you have an advice for us.

One of our cats Lucy (2 years old) was diagnosed with severe lymphoma today, she is not able to keep any food/water or medicine in her.
The last week she was daily provided with infusion at the clinic. Muang Ake Hospital Pattayais recomending chemo therapy. Unfortunatly this is no option for us, financially, logistically or philosophically. Even with this treatment she has about 6 to 9 month to live, not to mention the severe side effects.

In Germany the vet would put our loved Lucy down and she could slowy go to heaven. But here in Thailand the vet said it not allowed due to the Budhism.

Do you have an advive for us? We cant see her suffer for much longer any more.

Thank you and best regards,
Mr. J

Agree with Arjen, Also advisable to get your other cat(s) checked out for FLV Feline Leukemia Virus. Extremely common here and was notified that this will likely lead to Lymphoma and we may well have your same dilemma at some time in the future.

Edit: Our Cat was close to death with FLV and we had to force feed with syringe and various tablets for a week, strength returned and now back to normal but the risk of Lymphoma is now present according to our Vet.

thank you have already found a vet who will do it, THB 2.000 for injection, 1.500 for individual cremation - feeling very sad

This thread points out why it is so important to find a 'Westernised' vet that is not only capable of providing good advice - but also understands that there is a point when a much-loved pet (that has a terminal illness) has reached the point where they are suffering - and is prepared to end the suffering.

I've been through/am going through this twice now here in Thailand -  so you have my sympathy .

A friend pointed out a long time ago that is was well worth paying far more for this type of vet - and they deserve the extra expense for even ordinary problems.

edit - i.e. it isn't fair to use a cheap/inadequate vet for 'ordinary' problems - and then try to use a better vet vet when euthanasia is the only real option .
