Single vs. Multiple Re-entry Permit

Featured Replies

I retired to Thailand on a multiple entry non-immigrant O visa obtained outside of Thailand in 2016.  The visa has expired and my passport stamp permits me to stay in Thailand until February 2018.  I have since purchased and used one single re-entry permit.  I recently found out I will need to make an unexpected trip outside the country in December.  Will I be able to purchase a second single re-entry permit for this trip?  If not what is the best way of handling this. Cancelling the trip is not an option.

Retired?  Clarify please. Are you over 50?  Sounds like you just got the fairly recent METV, which has nothing to do with retirement.  Sounds like you are not doing any of the standard extensions of stay based on retirement.  If so go get Elite Visa

I assume you had a Non O-A (long stay) visa, and entered Thailand in February 2017 before it expired..

You can get another single re-entry permit.

As said there is no problem getting another one or two or more re-entry permits to keep your Feb 2018 permitted to stay alive.

Always better to pay the extra and get a multiple entry re-entry permit.  You never know when unexpected trips might pop up.

Always.  IO tried to talk me out of it once.  God only knows why.  He probably had to type one extra letter or something.

Yes, no problem. There's no limit.

Why? The OP says he had a ME non 'O' visa, which would have expired this year (2017). A permit to stay expiring in Feb 2018 would suggest a subsequent 1 year extension of stay based on "retirement ".

No clarification needed. Its irrelevant to the question.

I used to do that, but now only need 2 re entries/year or so

and as u can get a re entry at the international airports before u depart, makes no sense to waste the money
