Rimmer Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Navy cleans garbage-strewn Had Tien Beach PATTAYA:--More than 100 sailors cleaned Had Tien Beach after a tidal wave of garbage washed ashore. Rear Adm. Eagarat Promlumpag, commander of the Air and Coastal Defense Command, led the squad to the Sattahip shoreline Aug. 8 to pick up trash scattered over a kilometer of sand. Eagarat said the tide of trash washes ashore each year during the rainy season. Much of it floats down the coast from Bangkok, but some comes from local communities and ships at sea, he said. Now we know why the Thai military has so many flag officers. Apparently it takes one to lead a squad....It's a big squad though. Looks more like a platoon.
NCC1701A Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 why stop here? Thailand has a long coast line and a big military. should be 24/7.

Certainly has enough Generals & Admirals to lead the "squads" 24/7. They should have a General out there with a company doing Drill & Ceremony marches up & down Pattaya beach all night, every night. They could incorporate "Halt! Bend over! Pick up trash!...Forward, March!" into it. Put ratshot ammo in their M-16's & take care of the varmint problem too. Make them do it in full combat gear as well (Helmet, flack jacket, 5 liters of water etc)....about 60-80 lbs. Nah PT (physical training) uniforms is what they have. Probably future submariners waiting on their sub's.
YetAnother Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 so if the navy hadnt done it , what then ? just sits there and rots ? excellent thai management by local officials; what do they do all day ? play golf ?
Ulic Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 If only Thailand would implement a plan to stop garbage from entering the water. A nation wide anti littering campaign. One that would be ongoing.
Chrisdoc Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 why stop here? Thailand has a long coast line and a big military. should be 24/7.Rong Po beach beside the Cop beach resort.
Redline Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 They should stop all of their fishing boats from throwing all their trash in the sea
