I have read a similar article which is actually predicting the destruction of the northern USA without searching for the article I think I found through a USGS article claims the entire park was on a volcanic caldera covering portions of 3 states Montana, Wyoming and Idaho I believe it was around a hundred miles in diameter. I recall Mt St Helens caused a lot of destruction when it blew almost 40 years ago. And this one is probably a hundred times bigger.
