Used car dealers in the deep South were alerted and advised to increase their safety measures after southern militants eye vehicles for conversion to car bombs.

The conversion was described by security officials as the new tactic adopted by the southern militants to counter the authorities in recent campaign to stop car robberies on roads.

The armed robbery of Wang Ta used car dealer shop in Na Thawi  district of Songkhla province on Aug 16 forced the closure of most used car dealer business in four restive southern province of Songkhla, Pattani, Narathiwat and Yala.

The governor of Pattani province on Aug 17 ordered all 12 district-chief officers to carry out inspections on all car dealer shops in their areas of responsibility and urged all to increase their security. They have also been advised to immediately contact officials of any suspicious activities.

All efforts good but as they choke off one source, the militants will just find another. Things are heating up in the south.

Nothing will change until the militants bring their actions to Bangkok.
