Uk Airports

Im travelling to thailand this sunday and was wondering if there are still restrictions on hand lugage at uk airports?

I know recently we had a scare and all hand luggage had to be carried on in clear platic bags, I'll be taking my gfs birthday presents (which i have wrapped) on as hand luggage, do you think i might have any problems?

Thanks for any information folks, I cant seem to find it on the airport website.
