Yes just heard this to, is this the end of his career.  Hope not

He broke same leg 2010 at Mugello G P though reports suggest this time the damage is worse .. Whether he'll call it a day after this who knows .. Shame if it does end his career ..

  • I'm really looking forward to it. What other big sports events does this country put on? It's a shame the only comments I ever see on this forum are negative ones.

  • The organisers ought to be ashamed of themselves, considering the political situation here.

Yeh, and there's a flying pig. They can't even enforce existing helmet laws let alone proper riding techniques and road awareness.

Seriously, if you cannot see the irresponsibility in hosting such an event in Thailand then you need to sit down and think about it for a bit.

The country with the most motorcycle accidents and fatalities in the World.

There's no more need to be said really.

Ok you have to justify your answer.

Buriram also hosts the world superbike races, March 12/13th this year.

Both classes, SBK/MotoGP have high speed high performance bikes, top speeds and acceleration times not vastly different.

Can you produce figures proving that the SBK meeting in March, this year, showed as a result, a massive increase in deaths on bikes after the races.

Or are you one of the real bash bikers bash Thailand bar stool warriors?

Not to mention Steve Mcqueen ..

Anybody know what happened when the Superbikes were here, have they been back?

There was talk years ago about cars (at Bira), but it was kiboshed as the customs wanted to charge import tax on all the vehicles...

Rossi's already driven it. Says it's a boring circuit.

Therefore, it must be true!

Btw, Rossi, who has always had top equipment, doesn't have to go, if he finds it boring.  After all, he's long over due for retirement.

Did you know that 8 out 10 harleys ever produced are still on the road today?  The other two made it home.

That's where they put a water pump motor into a bicycle frame.  Nothing has really changed since, except now most of the parts come from the good ole Asia.

This years round has already passed dude .. T'was back in early March .. Next yrs calendar won't be announced probably until this season ends to know when or if there will be another WSBK round in Thailand given that the Motogp deal has now been agreed ..

A post with racist overtones and possibly questionable information has been removed.

And you join is for what is going to be a very exciting MotoGP 2018 in Buriram. As the riders line up on the grid you can see some of the rule changes put in place by the race organisers specially for this event. Gone are the full set of racing leathers and boots and instead you can see Marc Marquez sporting the new requirements of a "Run BKK" t-shirt. fake Liverpool FC shorts and manky flip flops. He's also taken the 2nd option regarding the protective full face headgear by dispensing with it completely rather than wearing it on the top of his head backwards as preferred by some of the other riders.

They're waiting for the green light but it seems that Jorge Lorenzo has gotten a little impatient and has jumped the red and disappeared into the distance. And they're off! Scott Redding has immediately done a U-Turn and is riding round the track against the traffic; I've been informed this is part of the Octo Pramac team's new strategy as it's the quickest way to get to the finish line. I can see Valentino Rossi  is also trying a new technique approved just for this race by laying down flat on his Yamaha with his legs stretched out behind him and is slipstreaming teamate Maverick Vinales, who's been penalized for this race after it was found that the hole in his earlobe for the regulation earring was below the required diameter during practise by being forced to carry a 17-year old "skoy" on the back of his bike. Surely that'll slow him down. There seems to be some commotion up ahead as after Andrea Dovizioso  left the track and rode along the path through the spectators he's been stopped by the police who're now checking under his bike's seat and his tongue for amphetamines. That's going to cost him a few places. But leading the head of the pack by a good margin is rookie Wuttichai  "Boy " Thatpaiboon, in his first outing in MotoGP for team "KFC Delivery". His Yamaha Fino certainly doesn't seem to be slowed down by that top box does it? Wait a minute the Track Marshal's car is out there appears to be a major accident at the front. Yes.. we're just getting confirmation. Wuttichai's top box has come open and the track is strewn with Zinger Double Cheeses, Wing Zaabs and Chicken Dai Jai sets. The riders are dropping like flies although I think the Track Marshals have everything in hand. Yes I can see now; they've confiscated the keys to all the rider's bikes and have forced them to strip to the waist and lay handcuffed in rows on the tarmac. Well folks that seems to be a premature end to the inaugural Buriram MotoGP. Stay tuned for more exciting sporting action live from Bangkok with the Khlong Saen Saep water polo and synchronised swimming.  "

If you scared of motorcycles then please do not ride one. You could endanger the lives of others. Especially people from countrys like England, who have little or no experience. On a two wheeled vehicle.

Oh I'm not frightened of motorcycles. I have been riding them since 1977, and both in the United Kingdom, and throughout Europe.

I'm just convinced that here riding  one here (other perhaps than local pottering on my little Yamaha) is simply far too dangerous.

But it really did apply for a few years when production was farmed to a large corporation and the quality control went through the floor. It only improved when control was taken by one of the descendants, grandson, nephew? Can't really remember.

AMF, Had to google it.

Where in the description of a motorcycle is stated on which power source they should run?

How many current motorcycles have a reverse gear?

Some of bigger honda bikes, Goldwings, Yamaha Aspencade maybe, but definately the Honda have a reverse gear.

It works using the starter motor.

Picture parking an 1800cc Goldwing front wheel to the kerb and downhill by mistake or necessity or get blocked in by cars or other bikes and you need to get out backwards.

Without a reversing system you would need a few people from the nearest bus queue to help you.

In the early 1990's, Harley's sold in Houston came with a free pickup truck so you could get them home.

Lots of stuff like that came out at the time.

The large panniers were fitted so you could carry all the spares and tools you would need etc.

Never claimed there are no motorbikes with reverse gear, but which percentage of the bike models currently on the market this would represent?

I'm sure it's less than 1%

Way less than 1% yes. My Goldi didn't have one, it was only 1100 cc. I think they started as an option when the engines went up to 1500cc. Mine also had a cigarette lighter and radio/cassette player.

No ashtray though, but I reckon if someone had asked Honda they would probably have designed one that worked.

Not to mention this baby Overherb the 1600cc Amazonas that were fitted with a VW beetle engine and gearbox so reverse came as standard and at 370 odd kilos it needed one ..

To those who believe a motorcycle race may have a negative affect on the two wheeled road toll.

Your suggesting it could get worse!

I strongly doubt it.

That's a monster. The front brake must have had some work to do on that. How do you get something like that over and back up again on a bend? It would be like fighting five silver backs.

Would love to try it but at my age I would need training wheels fitted. ??

Looking forward to going
But can we have programs please. None at superbikes.
Move the crap big screen from in front of the stand. Let us walk around the perimeter of the track. The rest is fine(ish)
