Water Babies

Featured Replies

How early is it safe for me to introduce the little one to acqua joys? Any reliable resources on water games and how to teach infants to swim available?

My son first went swimming at 10 weeks and he loves the water now. At 19 months, he watches how other people swim and really tries hard (unsuccessfully) to copy them kicking their legs, etc.

At any age you want, my son started at around 6 months, not earlier only because he was in a cold climate until then.

At 3yo he could jump in the deep end and turn around and pull himself out, great life saving ability perhaps.

In the Bangkok Post there is regulalry an ad for a hospital which does waterbaby stuff, mothers and babies swim together from a few weeks even.

I now also take my son to swimming lessons once a week. Have only just started this so he can get some outside learning experience and I can learn some more methods to teach him.

This school says it also has mother and baby classes in various areas of Sukhumvit.

Thanx for the responses.

At 17 months, we are playing at low level slides and enjoying it, so mujch so that she now sleeps for longer in the night.

Did not start early as i was worried about water in the ears, drowning (usual parents angst!)

Will have proper lessons at 2 yo.

Good day.

:o Try Bangkok dolphins. They do a brilliant parent and baby class.
