  1. Well , has anyone at the bar considered sending out scouts in canoes to locate sink holes . These sink holes have been completley overlooked and their potential to drain away the water has been so far unutilised , to coin a phrase , so to speak .

edit I have no understanding on the subject of flood management and this quaifies the abobve statement .

  2. Thanks for all the input .Here is my update . I don't have a Kasikorn Credit Card but I have a Debit Card . So far , I have not been able to register my -Debit Card - online , this is part of the process when applying for a -Shopping Card - this rules out Air Asia until I get back to Thailand and register the card . I can however pay bills with registered vendors and transfer money to other accounts . I have used a travel agent this time arround . 1-2 Call sim cards are roaming and recieve the SMS free so that has been handy . So if it is set up right before you travel the Kasikorn account and debit card can be a cost saver .

    Happy travelling .

    Luke

  3. I quite like the idea of growing a handlebar moustache. Will that be enough to get me a work permit for my new gondola do you reckon?

    Edit: sp

    D'ye punt?

Can you pole a punt, son?

I've had quite a few punts in my time and still keeping my head above water so to speak.

    Stagnant water rafting ?

  4. I guess several people have it right, you cannot beat ignorance and there is little point in getting uptight about it, but you can turn the tables, one guy once said to me,

'I see you have a Thai Bride'

My response was, 'Are you married?'

    'Yes'

    'Is she a Brit Bride?'

I guess he was uncomfortable, but I hope he wont show the same ignorance again.

    What rubbish.

Why would anyone be ashamed of having a Brit wife and why on earth would you think he was uncomfortable at this truth?? You honestly think he thought a Brit wife is embarrassing whereas a Thai wife shows class??

Re-read the guy's post. He was using the word "bride" and not "wife".

Prince Charles has a British wife.

The English guy who killed his partner after she broke his Star Wars toys had (according to the Daily Mail) a Thai bride.

Accordingly , Prince William , he has got a welfare wife .

  5. I tend to just make <deleted> up sometimes too ,but in this case I bought the T-shirt , " Glasgow ,that'll be a tropical paradise by the way so fuc_k the lot a yez"

When I was a boy my father read me Chariots of the Gods at bed time and I believed it ; we are the product of Alien intervention , then later on when I was a bit older he admited the author wasn't really a scientist but merely a lift attendant and wrote the books on his night shift sitting in a lift . A special lift I thought to myself .

  6. This story is interesting to me because I have many many model trains...and my thai wife sometimes jokingkly threatens to smash them up in her stony nam-phrik mortar...if I were ever jao-choo to her.....

Let us say that my wife in anger smashed up my trains.

I would be devastated and supremely angry with her.

But, I wouldn't go so far as to murder her for it...

We have been happily married for 3 years and we now have a baby boy...and I have 54 locomotives and 100+ wagons...No my aim is to safeguard my trains from my little boy, who would lovingly throw them about if he had access to them...

    Thomas and his friends ?

No...mostly trix(german), athearn and some chinese stuff...

My son is nuts on Thomas ,he knows all their names .

  7. There is a reason that all the papers except the Daily Mail, which has a hard on for denigrating anything to do with Thailand, used the word wife instead 'bride' to describe a woman who had been married for years in the star wars murder story. They know it just sounds weird and creepy to use bride in that circumstance which the feeling they want to convey

This case may very well be remembered as - The Toy Thai Bride Murder .

  9. 12 years in jail or "henpecked" for the rest of life.

He may have been smarter than you give him credit for. I have seen some couples- Thai/farang that would be better of going in the same direction.

Cheaper than divorce in the UK, he gets to keep his pension, his house and the kid (when he gets out)

Better deal than I had from a judge.

    True true words ludditeman

He could even cash in and write a book about his experiences in the nick .

  10. I wanted to see as many Temples as possible in two weeks.

You could be the next Simon Templer.

People said I was easily led, but you'd need to be quick on your feet to lead me astray; I've always been able to find my own way there...

It's a rocky road but somebody has to eat it .
