MP Criticizes Plan to Use Central Fund for Digital Wallet Scheme
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It seems that this insanity will not die of natural causes. Someone needs to stick a stake through its heart to kill it off. -
The Grave Reality Behind the Chants for "Intifada" on College Campuses
retarius replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Supporters of genocide apparently think threats of violence carry more weight than actual violence. I simply cannot understand the deprived morality of the supporters of genocide. -
Heatwave in Thailand greatly affects outdoor tourism
retarius replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I've stopped going out more or less. Perhaps a visit to doctor, dentist or shops (only to air-conditioned mall). I sit inside and read in the air-conditioning with the temperature at 25 degrees. Obviously not to everyone's taste, but is to mine. -

90 minutes is a legal transfer, anything less than that is not legal. Your wife will lose you luggage. -

Israel-Hamas Conflict Affects Thai Exports, Claims TPSO
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Blame anything to absolve the government for poor performance. Gimmick a day Srettha meeting scousers and getting his ugly mug in the news instead of solving the economic problem. -
The Move Forward Party in Thailand is at risk of dissolution
retarius replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It really is time for the US, the EU and G7 to collectively make a statement that Thailand is not a democracy if MF are dissolved, and for them to treat Thailand accordingly. Having said that seeing the vile and genocidal situation and murder going on in Gaza and the deafening silence of the corrupt west while they still sell the Israelis arms, I cannot see them condemning Thailand for anything anti-democratic. -
I don't think it is you. I live in a rural area with a small town close by. There are few farangs here and the farang community has gotten quite a bit smaller over the time I have been here. When I came here 15 years ago, everybody smiled, girls used to flirt on the tills or behind the counters and any lady who had some English seemed anxious to speak and practice it. In the supermarket there were a lot of farangs who all nodded or said hello. Now is totally different, no one smiles, no one speaks much simply the least they can get away with, and none of the younger girls flirt (there is the occasional manageress that flirts with me) but not the girls on the tills. As I am typing this, it strikes me that I haven't met any new (new to me, that is) Thais in years. The strange thing is that this cold-shouldering didn't seem to happen gradually, it seems to have happened rather suddenly. But my other observation is that when we pull up to have the tank filled the pump attendants don't strike up conversations with my wife either, so I'm not sure if it is aimed at farangs. The other odd thing is that when I go to the doctor's office or the bank, I get priority service, in and out very quickly ignoring the queueing system and all the Thai patients sitting there. To be honest, I dislike this as I am sure it creates unwanted hostility in the people waiting, seeing a faring get priority service like a hi-so.

I think the ugliest vehicle I have ever seem, who on earth are the designers? I noticed in the video the truck is struggling up the unpaved hill. Why doesn't Musk organise a Cybertruck vs F150 Diesel in a pulling contest?

Travel Insurance for Australia from Thailand
retarius replied to Dazinoz's topic in Insurance in Thailand
I use a company called MCIG. I don't know whether it is any good because I have never made a claim. It is cheap and I have been to the US, Japan with them. Just type MCIG into your web browser, you can apply on line. Have your passport and CC ready. -
Suvarnabhumi Airport Aims for Top Spot in 2025 Rankings
retarius replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Isn't the top spot being #1 not being in the top 50. The headlines are really crap on AN. -

I'm sure someone has pointed this out, but there is no such thing as 'British English'. The English is what is spoken in Britain. Everything else derived from that n needs a qualifier to explain that it is not pure English American English, Canadian English etc People in Spain don't say they speak Spanish Spanish do they?

Do I need a special acct for US SSA direct deposit?
retarius replied to BusNo8's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
You used to need a special account (which has no debit card) AND a regular savings account at the same institution. But that was 2015 and may have changed now. You have to do transactions and withdrawals in person.....so your wife or g/f cannot make withdrawals if you die. I keep a very low balance in this account so that my wife will not be in a position of try to get the cash out. -
UN Report Warns Of Asia's Increasing Climate Crisis
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Very silly. Flood insurance in the US is a boon for mega rich. It is subsidised by the Federal Government because private insurers will not accept properties in flood plains. A hidden untaxed BS subsidy for mega rich. -
