Yes this evil slaughter of innocent unarmed people by the self proclaimed best military in the world has to stop. I want to see the evil inhumane perpetrators of this in the IDF, along with the political leaders and IDF commanders in the dock for attempted genocide and mass starvation of innocent people. Palestinians are not subhuman.

Moment Debate | Should UNRWA be shut down?
retarius replied to Social Media's topic in The War in Israel
Insofar as all institutions are corrupt, UNRWA is likely corrupt and maybe should be replaced with something more effective. It should certainly not be shut down because of the recent scurrilous evidence-free lies by Israel about UNWRA staff taking part in the massacre on October 7th. -
Chinese influencer’s food poisoning sparks Thai food hygiene row
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I won't eat street food. I always ask myself where the folks selling them go to the toilet during the long afternoon and evening. I can't recall seeing any of them washing their hands when I go to a market and the 10 baht bathrooms are horribly dirty....so dirty I wouldn't take my dog to defecate there. -

Page turners: Survey reveals shift in Thai reading habits
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Come to think of it, I do see Thais reading newspapers. But think if the average Thai read 2 hours every day, you would see Thai's reading on the train, on public transport and you would see Kindles for older folk. I have a suspicion that the report is hogwash. -

You look pretty suspicious to me from your photo. I would have confiscated your phone and tortured you for looking so shady.- 37 replies

Any recommendations for a shop to replace the body of a laptop?
retarius replied to dhupverg's topic in IT and Computers
Make a new body/frame out of scrap hard wood. Not only serviceable but beautiful as well and much better than factory produced rubbish made from plastic or anodised aluminium. -

I go often to Kinokuniya in Siam Paragon. The coffee store is mobbed with people drinking coffee and eating desserts, and the aisles are completely free of customers. -

Joe Biden expects Iran to attack Israel 'sooner than later'
retarius replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Let's face it, Joe Biden is prescient. Who would want more in a leader? Problem I suppose, is how JoePublic can tell Joe Dementia's lunacy from his prescience. -
I had an experience here similar to the OP. A few years ago I developed a basal cell cancer lesion on my chest. I went to the local dermatologist who was about 70 years old with pancaked make-up. She told me she had never seen anything like that lesion before in her life. What it is the most common skin cancer????????? But TiT I knew it was basal cell and so decided to ditch the country doctor and went to a Dr Rusla at Bumrungrad. She confirmed my diagnosis and checked the rest of my torso and picked out another lesion on my back for biopsy, both turned out to be a basal cell lesions.

I don't know if this will help, but I made a Living Will. In it, I expressed all my wishes, like no unnecessary medical treatment, want to die at home, modest funeral et al. I'm still alive so I don't know if it was effective or not at stopping the rape of the widow when Papa cracks. The Living Will was written at a lawyer's, translated into English and Thai and has been lodged with other wills at the Embassy.

I think the answer is: not much, judging by my direct experience. Luckily my wife is a dab hand at cleaning a/c units.

Periodontist recommendation for gum graft surgery
retarius replied to Uptown's topic in Health and Medicine
Periodontists are thin on the ground in Thailand and generally you need a referral. Bumrungrad have a perio department. I tried to make an appointment on their website but was rejected despite telling them I was a patient there. They asked for a referral letter and then it was no problem. They have the names of physicians specialising in perio on the website. I cannot remember the name of the lady I saw. -
I have opened two savings accounts, but at different branches. One I opened just to have a second account. The second one was opened when I requested my SS payments be made at BKK. BKK is the only bank SS accept(ed) at the time for payments to be made. They were fully FACTA complaint which was a rarity I think at the time. In any event, I went to a different branch (same town) to open the SS account and was told I had to have a savings account with them....so I opened a savings account with them. I have never used it, I put 5000 baht in to open it and must remember to go and get the 5000 baht back.
