  1. I would warn against building anything that is non-standard. In other words it will be better to find workers in your area, have a look at what they have built in the past, and make small changes to bring the home closer to what you really want. Fancy designs that Thais have not built before will not be constructed right plus will cost you an arm and leg. Better stick with what these guys know how to build then watch them like a hawk. Or maybe better yet buy something that someone has built several years ago that you can buy. You might save money, spend that cash to make improvements, and also make sure the foundation was done correct as there would be cracks showing after a few years. I was shown a photo of a fancy European designed house that someone built. When asked to guess the cost I missed by 60%. I am sure this guy spent 60% more money building non standard home than if he had just built a nice good quality Thai house. I thought it was ugly also. Ha Ha. It is your money but your best practical way is to stay standard.

  2. I didn't buy when arrived in Pattaya 2 years ago, afraid of the bubble. Would like to see it happen, since I do not currently own, but I still feel that it is not going to happen soon. It may be slowing down in Thailand right now, but it has not moved to the negative. Be careful though to watch daily as things can change quickly. It did in the states. Almost overnight.

Thailand is a different realestate market. Following the 1997 Asian Crises, prices didn't bottom out until 2001.

Not sure about that one. I bought in 97 a few weeks after the crash buying for about 1/3 the price of 6 months before when you took the currency exchange rate into consideration & the discount the sellers gave

  3. Sad, very sad.

Yeah, could have used some solid CSEP training. Sad news, regardless of if they were Thai or Illegals, as some have stated. Reality is they did not know what the heck they were doing and are now dead. RIP to all of them as of course, they are unwarranted deaths.

Bottom line. Carbon Monoxide is heavier than air and is more than likely what did them in. Hydrogen Sulphide, is lighter than air, and sadly what they thought they could get rid of by simply letting it air out before they went in. In most deaths of this kind, sewer (hydrogen sulphide) gas gets the blame, and it is sadly a simple lack of oxygen, being that it is displaced by the carbon monoxide, that does them in. And no, you do not smell it, it is odorless, where the hydrogen sulphide, as others have stated has a rotten egg smell to it. .

    H2S is heavier than air

  4. The yanks cannot even talk to the republicans (and viceversa) back home. What makes them think they can mediate Thailand's circus? blink.png

Apparently you didn't read the article or you are just taking pot shots at the (yanks). They stated clearly they were not trying to mediate any talks only wanting to encourage them to talk. Perhaps your Brit english can't fathom the context of this article?

America should pretend they are Swiss by keeping their mouth shut and minding their own business.thumbsup.gif

  5. Nong Khai was once ranked 7th in the world as a retirement place. (not sure who did the ranking) Any hotel in the place, probably bars too, will have the relevant articles posted up on the wall somewhere.

7th in the world? I bet they were smoking something that is illegalw00t.gif
