  1. Even after 40 years riding bikes, that does give me the creeps. I would like to think the wide-angle lens makes the track look narrower than it is. Also, any motorcyclist should be able to go in a straight line, so scientifically, there's no reason to fall off in this case unless there's a strong side wind... but my heart rate did go up watching that... and hasn't gone down yet. ???????? Let's just say I would claim to enjoy/prefer the scenic detour! Male bravado has no place here! ????
  2. Wait for the 'alcohol ban within 500 metres of the river' and 'all condos and restaurants with a river view to have life jackets for every guest, plus staff, plus spare' Yes, I'm being facetious ????????
  3. It makes no sense to eat warm-blooded carnivores. Most of the stored energy in plants is transferred to the animal that eats the plants. - If that animal is a herbivore, then there's just one step of lost energy from the plant to the animal, so eating that herbivore (warm or cold blooded) reaps benefits from the original energy. - If that animal is then eaten by a cold-blooded carnivore, such as a crocodile or shark, then (moral issues aside) it's ok to eat the predator because that creature doesn't burn crazy amounts of energy living its life as warm blooded. - But if the predator of the herbivore is a warm-blooded carnivore, then there's simply too much energy lost from the original plant, The original plant's energy is lost through the prey herbivore, and most of what's left is used by a warm-blooded carnivore. It's too many steps and too much energy is already used up. And most warm-blooded carnivores don't have a great deal of edible flesh or fat. Ever wondered why humans don't eat more dogs and cats? Also, warm-blooded carnivores tend to be clever (hard to hunt or farm) and don't reproduce as much.
  4. 'Every single opportunity'? Thanks... I'll go back through all my other similar posts. It's very much connected to Thailand and if you have any thoughts otherwise, I'm sorry.
  5. The Thai driving licence is just a piece of worthless plastic. Unlike what any normal driver (from civilised countries) feels about one from home... which is something to be proud of and respect (not wanna lose).
  6. A sober Somchai in front of cops is always going to tow the line and be all smiles... let's wait and see how he behaves the next time he's drunk. As for what really happened before that (dog allegedly biting the kid) there's no information here, so pro & anti dog posters should think before throwing in their (expert????) opinions. ????
  7. A U-turn flip flop in Thailand!? AMAZING, and 'unprecedented'! ????????
  8. Could this be a convenient excuse for the case to lose momentum? I read yesterday that one of the people from the boat hadn't been interviewed yet... ????????
  9. All I'm saying is that there is a decent chance that there are two sides to this story, and we we shouldn't just assume the guy's 'another lying, bragging, drunken worthless Thai husband.'
  10. While many Thai men are as you describe, we have no proof or even evidence that he's all to blame in this case. The wife might really have been nagging him all these years.
  11. It's impossible to (correctly) blame an inanimate object. If the road is wet, slow down. His driving is all he can blame.
  12. The fact that she died from drowning is not surprising. But what happened on the boat beforehand, and even before they boarded are crucial to this case. - insurance job - attempted rape - false promises or lies from her manager about what the 'job' entailed - just a drunk who got carried away But I'm very confident there's something fishy... no pun intended
  13. So from now on, tourists are trusted to perform their 2nd Covid test by doing an ATK and uploading to the app on day 5 or 6 after arrival. While I'm not trying to give anyone ideas to be naughty, there will be cases where - people forget - people are unable due to them not having a signal on those days (for example out at sea on a diving liveaboard) - people are unable due to the app crashing (they don't have a great rack record, do they) - human error prevents it being done - people test positive but in fear of being whisked away, they post a negative result So, how can this crazy system work properly or be controlled? Will tourists who fall into any of the above categories be pulled over at immigration when they try to leave Thailand?
  14. I would love to see this 'speedboat' that you can wear a dress on and enjoy drinks and a meal, and maybe do a photoshoot or have a party. My concept of a speedboat is quite different.

  16. I'm told Austrian allow in the cabin, but only one pet per flight and must fit under the seat.
  17. Lilawadee trees are very popular here in Thailand, and I moved and planted ours 10 years ago. In recent years it keeps getting yellow orange 'dust' on the underside of the leaves. Apparently it's an airborne disease, and our neighbours' tree and ours both get it, probably off each other. I cut all the leaves off and a month or so later they come back good, but not for long. Does anyone know a decent medicine or fertilizer I can put into the earth to stop this? Thanks in advance.
  18. TV's most-prolific (argumentative) pedant is back online. Stay on your toes, boys & gals!
  19. Nice photo. How many civil servants does it take to watch a civil servant pretend to badly paint the road just for a photo? In kindergarten they were told not to paint outside the lines! Imagine if a cop came around the corner too fast on an unregistered Ducati when they were all paying attention to this little show?
  20. If the OP married and quickly bought land for an Isaan lass and had dealings in Pattaya, then assumptions can be made. I am a dog lover more than you can imagine, and I agree with the OP's feelings. I also understand that the OP couldn't bury the dog from so far away.. although I'm not sure Isaan to Pattaya is 790km ???? We also have to bear in mind that the locals wanted nothing to do with the dog when it was alive, so the thought of burying it (with all this fear of viruses nowadays) would have come at a price. Could we assume that everyone (or at least some of the people) in the chain of communication from the person who buried it to the OP added a bit? As others have already mentioned, this can't be the only reason for divorce and leaving Thailand. Either there's plenty more (marrying an Isaan girl and having dealings in Pattaya ring alarms bells for me), or maybe the whole thread is fake and a cry for attention from a self-proclaimed prolific poster. ????????
  21. Goddam inflation! ????????????????????????????????
  22. Well they haven't 'dine away with the requirement for a second test' have they? Saying that, I wonder how many will be foolish enough to enter 'positive/detected' in the Mor Chana App when they do their own ATK on Day 5.
  23. It's REALLY common on Hondas. There's a little rubber bung under the pedal. I went to my main dealer and they charged me 54B and fitted it for free. Yes, 54B!! ????????????????????
  24. Was he wearing a Covid mask? My apologies, as this is no time to joke. Sadly, he is one of many who will die on the roads today.
