You should check your facts... I just read that masks are still required on public transport in some parts of Germany, https://www.dw.com/en/germany-mask-mandates-again-a-hot-topic-ahead-of-winter/a-63465987 I agree some other countries have abandoned mask requirements completely, like Switzerland...but some persist, usually in healthcare and public transport. https://www.euronews.com/travel/2022/10/21/what-s-the-latest-on-european-travel-restrictions Why do you seek to misinform?

Yes, it is OK to just turn up and use the beach. They have had reserved VIP seating set up in the past.... If I recall correctly people broke through and ignored the security. It was only in the Central area...usually crowded all the way to the South end... I chose to use he north area around soi 6. Some chair vendors try to hold parts of the beach... but these days it is pretty big with a lot of room. Large mats works well. I think get there about 7pm should be as late as you go.... previously fireworks start at 8pm, with a lot of loud blather and music beforehand. I have taken a small box of chilled beer before and the 7-11s do roaring trade... officially should not be drinking on the beach but it is beyond their capacity to police it. I am afraid it is, but a good fun atmosphere.

Thai PM pledges “heart-to-heart” cooperation with the US

Where on earth did I say it is OK? YOU with your anti local stance call it a scam... I simply tell you what the situation is, and perhaps clarify how it came about IIRC. I am wasting my time and it ends now. -
Russian tourists pack charter flights to Pattaya and Phuket

I suggest only those who have invaded another country's territory and is also bombarding another country's territory indiscriminately with missiles, killing women and children. It isn't a bloody tango, it is a war. You do an injustice to those murdered in the Ukraine.- 125 replies

One time he was berating foreigners, because one had the effrontery to complain about the noise he was making..... my Mrs suggested his attitude was not as to be expected from a senior monk. Sometimes preaching... sometimes listing those who had donated, name and how much, other times telling others they should come and donate.

Russian tourists pack charter flights to Pattaya and Phuket

The impact was felt by anyone trying to get baht buses between Pattaya and Jomtien. So much for the sanctions that were going to bring Russia to it's knees and isolate them..... -
Yourself on a copier, any Kodak shop, a visa agent office, or simply a few pics on your phone. But don't fret, the only time I have had to produce my passport to police in many years, was driving near the Northern border areas.

This is an important comment..... and perhaps why the locals do better. I have seen my wife berate a policeman and he acted like a smacked puppy..... I carry with me an ancient legacy of respect for police, more deserved perhaps in the 1960s UK. Then again, when pulled over in the USA, some huge guy with a barrel chest and a gun made me 'yes sir, no sir, three bags full sir', till he heard my accent, then he was confused what to do.

Thai PM pledges “heart-to-heart” cooperation with the US
jacko45k replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
False letter was the issue that created this scenario, immigration were accepting a wide variety but only glancing over them... the multitude of languages and so called 'proof' was wooly. So the Embassy verifying them was required. The use of affidavit or stat dec meant there was no real verification, although I heard the UK Embassy checked the paperwork, but only issued a letter saying they had 'seen it'. Of course some were false... There of course is also a multitude of cases of people falsifying their qualification for a retirement Extension... a bigger example being those who pay an agent to get immigration to sign off on the 800k bank balance requirement. Which is also open to all comers. -

Thailand at that time changed the rules to accommodate those whose Embassies refused to issue income letters... to the Expats benefit. Those rules can be used equally by any nationality... I simply proved you were being obtuse and anti Thai. Pensioners without savings can use the income into a Thai bank method, whatever nationality. Perhaps there is the combination method too, of savings and income but at first that was not being accepted, not really sure where it is now. -

They do have the same rules.... The Embassy has to issue a verification of income (actually pension) letter, or have 800k in the bank, or show 65,000 baht into a Thai Bank each month for a retirement extension! Many years ago, one simply could show evidence of income..... from whatever source it came, then a later requirement of the Embassy verifying this income came in. A subsequent request by immigration that Embassies really verify this income, not simply do stat decs or affidavit (which do not verify anything) subsequently caused few Embassies (UK, USA, Oz and Denmark) to balk, and stop their verification letter service. Personally I think they should make everyone have the 800,000 baht in the bank... but it would be bad situation to preclude people living on pensions without savings. -

Examples of this discrimination? By the way, surely European Expats are also Western? The proof of income, by showing money coming into a Thai bank account (65,000/mo), was an accommodation by Thai immigration for those Expats on Retirement Extensions whose embassies refused to issue income verification. Why should the other countries have their requirements changed ,because of the actions of other countries authorities? -
My Mrs found a place on The Railway Line Bypass Rd that would do our sick cat.....rather than a quick OD jab of whatever, they set up an IV. Jeez I was upset!
