  1. Yes.... minus the withholding tax of course.
  2. It is a pedestrian crossing with lights.
  3. Well the road where this happened is actually a dual carriageway... I also see there are barriers to prevent pedestrians crossing elsewhere... for their safety which is ironic.
  4. Don't forget many that will look completely the wrong way!
  5. I was once at the side of the pool in a USA Holiday Inn and an Indian in the water got out of his depth and started to panic... fortunately someone dived in and helped him and made me take my foot off his head..... (For all you woke types, this is a joke.. although I did see the guy struggle).
  6. As far as I know it is a red light, not one conditional on whether there is someone using the crossing!
  7. This discussion was had years ago relating to unlicensed taxi rides to the airport, the usual comment being that you are insured in a real taxi.... the police were even stopping vehicles on the road in and my driver said to tell the officer the driver was my brother in law! Harass the real taxis, they are ripping tourists off!
  8. Oh yeah, the seasonal Naklua Walking Street... nowhere to sit and dodgy food! Used to like it in it's early years, less so more recently.
  9. Get real... who doesn't chuck their wallet onto the table when they go get a shower in a hotel room (alone). Presuming the door locks automatically....I do actually check the balcony windows and door are locked as they are often left unlocked... whatever floor I am on.
  10. Free chop sticks and elephant pajamas suits on arrival!
  11. I am struggling to believe something running concurrently with the packed out Fireworks Event could be considered as well planned!
  12. On a trip between Pattaya and Ekamai the conductor came and told off an Indian guy who had been yelling into his phone for the first 20 minutes of the trip....imagine being sat next to that!
  13. Is that the horrid sickly sweet stuff?
  14. The taxis parked at the Malls are rip-off merchants who refuse to use their meter..... another tourist deterrent they refuse to react to.
  15. I tried to see the lights and unlike another poster could not determine they had just changed to the pedestrians benefit..... here there is a dangerous 5 second dwell before a red light MIGHT be taken seriously.
  16. I often pop into town early on a Sunday to do a bit of shopping, and maybe get an early haircut on Soi Buakhao.. it's a bit sad really. Many out having an early beer, no selling hour restrictions for them like in Big-C and the 7-11! On Diana you get an impression some did a drink through at a few bars. Bleary eyes, loosely held cigarette...
  17. I think they are more of a danger than a benefit, since many locals simply ignore them......tourists are lured into using them expecting discipline like at home. Any more feedback... how is the guy, have they located the driver yet?
  18. Then, if that is what you seek off you go to Cambodia. I just don't see that many tourists give a FF as to whether they can drink themselves stupid until 4am, rather than 2am. It is a small select group. Where in Cambodia is there the attractive beach-life as one would find on say Samui or in Phuket? I once enjoyed Sihanoukville but I believe it has been utterly ruined.
  19. And yet I recently saw a report on vehicle production telling us how it had gone up many % points, with the majority going overseas.... so which is it.
  20. Too many scams! Paying up front to those agents to be avoided. A few trips were on public transport, but when I rented a vehicle much better... walking about looking for hotels would not have worked in most places. TAT offices were very helpful.. sometimes. ????
  21. What has that got to do with some private pawn broker/ car dealer selling off vehicles?
  22. Crikey, we still got a few fires still burning from the last weekend's fireworks extravaganza!
