Thailand and Indonesia could soon become home for some lucky Aussies

Soon be too few tax paying people to support the immigrants and work-shy in Western Countries! -
A pity this happens but the reality is the police do it too. Just heard a recent tale of a guy who spent a night in the cells as he got too drunk, overspent, and could not pay his tab. He spent a night in the cells and then his passport was taken off him until he could pay up.... not having his passport, nor any cash left him struggling.

Ah yes, 20 years of playing 'Hotel California' four times a night, 7 nights a week, and still can't quite get it in tune.

Is he involved in this crime that took place in Pattaya? No mention of him in the above report, and I thought he was focused on Chinese owned nightclubs. casinos etc. Why did you need to even mention him?

I always recall being in a WS GGB and this Indian guy coming in and standing there gawping at the flesh on display on stage. He was invited to sit (and of course order) by several staff who he waved off and carried on watching, standing, leering even. Then the manager came and talked to him and he tried to wave him off and got gripped by the seat of his pants and collar and run to the exit. I still see that same manager now and again as he seems to move around WS, and has been employed in many places, and I hold him in high regard!

Well personally I am more inconvenienced by the morning restriction as that is when I do my shopping, and like to buy a variety of canned beers for the week. (To go with the bottles I buy too). I can get them near the house at an open all hours distributor, but they simply do not carry the variety of BigCX. I do not agree it would barely have an effect... it would save lives, I have often seen a few minivan drivers enjoying a few late afternoon beers before driving back towards Bangkok... and I don't believe selling odd bottles between 2pm and 5pm is needed. Would you have then reintroduce selling alcohol at fuel service stations too? I think alcohol sales are quite liberal here....

Mine, slightly differing model number, RKD15HV2S, was about 3650 baht last April.

Poor Indians, they do seem to drop themselves in it! Sitting down where they please and quick to argue their right! My Bolt driver gave me a lecture on them all the way home recently.

Yes, agreed, on the one occasion I did return with proof, I got the impression they could not care less. Year prior, they forgot to tell me so I didn't. This year, as I was up against the wall due to dopey HMPO UK pushing me up against a wall, I engaged an agent and it was not mentioned. Beware NOT keeping the balances stipulated though... I suspect an Extension could be cancelled if you really got them annoyed.

I read one post here where someone had allowed his account to go low, during the term of his extension, and had been pulled up on it. He had to leave Thailand, come back in Exempt, and start again... but only the one instance. Personally I won't risk it....As I used an agent, I was not asked to return after 3 months at Jomtien.

I don't think what happens in Australia is at all relevant. In fact, if one bases behaviour here on Oz experiences, you are being foolish. I do not see how you can operate another person's account legally..... you have no right without power of attorney or completion of probate. I have been through that too.... More importantly, I have been in Thailand when friends pass.

As stated a joint account may not qualify for the retirement extension, it is meant to be accessible money in your own name. I suggest a will and it specifically mentioning the account as passing to your partner. I have heard of some accounts whereby a partner can have access , but are not obviously 'joint'..... hopefully another poster can add details.

WHO Praises Thailand’s Strength in Handling COVID-19
jacko45k replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thailand did far far better than most of the 1st world countries and quite a number of 3rd world ones. I think I was fortunate to be here rather than my country of origin.
