Do tourists who go to other countries for a holiday open bank accounts there? I don't believe my sister has one in Greece where she visits.... Banks allowing accounts, which very likely will fall into disuse, seems very inefficient. It also seems counterproductive for Thailand to be giving tourist a means to avoid the very lucrative foreign ATM charges.

Yes, most of what you say is obvious..... we did have a spate of gold necklace robberies involving Indians here a few years ago and some were proven to be false, based on insurance fraud. I suspect many of the cameras are not working again and the authorities are avoiding mentioning it. (Aren't they easily scanned for with a phone camera?) I asked a pal who volunteers at the police station and he seems to think the police are happy to just keep issuing the reports for now. Are you perhaps telling me all these Indian tourists are so dumb they wander around alone wearing large gold chains at 3am .... in my experience Indians are usually in groups?

I was in the Al Khobar area, yes I recall cool and comfortable. Not frosty mornings though as mentioned elsewhere. The warm seas made that unlikely..... misty/foggy was frequent. I was also up in Wafra, Kuwait, much cooler there and maybe frost in the desert when the air came from the NW in Iraq.

For the odd cases, as happened to me only yesterday, you do get pulled over. Yes the policeman was masked..... The helmet makes getting one on difficult.
