  1. The current state of the UK hardly exhibits much evidence of that nowadays.. we have mostly given it all over. Sorry to be off topic but had to comment.
  2. No, I would guess crime has grown along with the town. The reporting goes up and down at the whim of those who control it.... they sometimes get told to tone down the negativity.
  3. Well yes, they are also known for extravagant weddings, but most of us don't get to attend those, and rely on what they see elsewhere.
  4. Yes of course, a non Thai example might be Ronan point. That too had building build quality issues of paper stuffed where mortar was required. This is what happens when QC is resolved with brown envelopes.
  5. And yet so prompt to make comment in the thread!
  6. Why not.... plenty of places to enjoy and play, good schools and facilities. Don't have to leave them to run around Walking Street or LK Metro?
  7. Fair point, they harp on how the monks live a simple life and shy away from materialism... yet so much money comes into these places, and as we see here, they hoard it!
  8. Not sure about that, Koh Tao and Phuket have their share of crime and danger.
  9. Yes, I was thinking the same as I drove down Hwy 36 only last night where much of the lighting was out. In a busy and high speed area, where there are many U-Turns, madness.
  10. Had the nickname of 'The slug' amongst the locals IIRC!
  11. Soi Yume. That lane is there for the many disabled in the area, there is access to Father Ray's there and many disabled folks go to Big-CX that way.
  12. In the right place close to the Waterfront condo then!
  13. Key Visa still claim to do this. https://www.keyvisathailand.com/
  14. Really, not an area I frequent, but where I live I doubt I would find one! Hard to get to another area when your bike is broke I suspect!
  15. I think it had just packed in on them... spoiling their planned late night whizzing about making a nuisance of themselves.
  16. As it was nearly 11pm they were short on alternatives.
  17. I often wonder if it would be best to pick the winner, or the loser, in such circumstances.
  18. Perhaps Visa free entry for the Uzbeks needs to be reconsidered then.
  19. But it is near impossible for foreign trained doctors, non-Thai, to get licence to work in Thailand. I might expect nursing is also a reserved occupation. Most certainly it would need a licence. I expect it would be a far better job in private hospitals than public too.
