  1. Hard to believe really. A funeral here, I would expect to be somewhat cheaper than one back in the UK. Although I hear there is some basic service being offered back there now. As someone else said, everyone seems to be looking for someone else to pay for things, and cover their lack of foresight.
  2. Pretty much applies to most places in town, but let us continue with all the various classifications as it helps some of us navigate the variety!
  3. I think she has been there since the phone was the only way to book a room!
  4. My oh my, are there no limits to the behavior of bad people!
  5. Many years ago I recall having a one week girlfriend who had quite noticeably scarred hands... she had been given a container of a strong acid to clean under her sink with. I also recall some workers bringing along some strong acid to try and clean off the sand wash round the pool. Stuff seems easy to get hold of.
  6. Very much the wrong image for the family friendly international resort of Pattaya.
  7. It's a little like the annual floodings.... very seasonal and will be forgotten about until next year.
  8. It's not for me, I absolutely never watch it. Mrs watches these puerile programs in the evenings. Laughs her head off at whatever is going on!
  9. Go eat dirt and look things up for yourself. https://yorkmix.com/york-council-hiding-electric-vehicles-in-embarrassing-and-expensive-fiasco/
  10. I thought it was that one in Sri Racha, Phyathai Sriracha Hospital.
  11. Is it true that it is the equivalent to a tax ID? A lot of folks will be needing those come the start of 2025.
  12. Whatever it takes I suppose.....
  13. Slippery slope...... I was reading only yesterday of some UK local council that had wasted millions upon millions of taxpayer money on a fleet of electric garbage vehicles, that they are unable to charge and are not fit for purpose, They have hidden them away somewhere.
  14. It must have been someone else's fault...surely nothing to do with the very safe batteries we have nowadays.
  15. Yes, although that specializes in littering up and clogging waterways.
  16. I don't believe so........ likely they avoid getting involved with that..... they certainly see it going on.
  17. Yeah, I get a sense I am deliberately being buzzed especially around Buakhao....
  18. Really...... never heard that and a little surprised as they seem different.
  19. Was it not also The Apex that did a buffet breakfast near there? The Casa ( Pascal ?) place was really a higher end of the market but very good. Dogs Bollxx, a bit rough for me, and not welcoming for a Manchester lad! I also spent a lot of time in Dave's (GB) Bar, locations on Beach Rd, then Pattayaland 1, then 2nd Rd.
  20. Well back then there was only 1 IIRC, on 13/1, and it was only half the size. Owned by a Finnish guy?
  21. Never mind... they did pretty well in the Olympics!
  22. Probably the usual minibus pick up from your hotel and overland to the Ferry Terminal in Trat. The ones where you pay 100b for the Ferry ticket that actually costs 30 baht. (Two decades plus and I am still sore about it!😄)
  23. Yes, it is, although I would not have said 'English' breakfast, more Buffet breakfast. There was another well known for it's (cheap) buffet breakfast nearby, just across 2nd rd. too. I used the Lek place a lot in my early Pattaya days, 80s onwards. Cheap and cheerful, a bit basic, but a good location and a stagger from my drinking hole back then, The Wonderful Bar.
  24. Safer than the darts being aimed at balloons I dare say.
  25. Oh I don't know about that....the police vans were not called Paddy Wagons for nothing!
