  1. Welcome to my troll list!
  2. He would have been 73 by now........
  3. Yet more......... you should refer to the topic title!
  4. I think times have changed ...... as a UK person I would ponder why on earth would a Thai want to be illegal in the UK. These 1st world countries are unable to handle the illegals that cross their borders by land or from the sea.... the few that fly in and come through legitimate channels, and would remain, are relatively small in number, and presumable financially more sound. Is Thailand any more '3rd world' than UK for example? I still see Hubris... You mentioned Brazil, I always recall a liberal attitude to entering there, I got 90 days no problems IIRC.
  5. Another person apparently unable to discuss without making it personal... now that is a big yawn!
  6. I would get a pic from an X-rated site....probably get a lot of first time takers but not lasting relationships!
  7. This is not really a nanny state..... you have to take care of yourself. 'Someone' did not read the details on their Extension stamp! If in doubt, ask questions.....this board is a good resource on Visa stuff.
  8. How so? I have not yet seen all these wonderful benefits after 18 months. It has no impact on tourism, and most of the weed shops I see are empty and dying on their feet. Surely the growers are not doing well with so limited a market... so much so that they resort to smuggling to other countries. If the best argument you have is to simply insult those who oppose, you must have a limited platform.
  9. I believe it possible... and justified too. It is Western hubris to be so restrictive to Thais. We get so many complaining they want longer Visa Exempt permissions when they visit Thailand, yet their own countries will not let Thais in without some tiresome visa requirement.
  10. Watch out for a Bentley and someone with an ermine cloth over his head sneaking in.
  11. Yes, I am aware that the Extension cannot go beyond the passport validity. I have made a point of renewing a passport early, and soon after a new Extension, to stay away from that 'risk'.....
  12. It's called an Extension as it tags onto the end of your current permission of stay. The one that 'loses 'time' is doing the 90 day report early..... no big deal really.

I guess we have different situations..... I only shop for items I might use as a lunch snack and household stuff... the Mrs does a daily wet market run for fruit and the meat and veg for each dinner meal. We don't shop together, seems to cause friction as I am not a patient, look at everything type... that's how she shops. I don't let her do it alone as she doesn't seem to believe in the future of money and it all must be spent at once.
  14. Yes, really. Completely off topic and a deflection!
  15. Having to go through such a palaver might make me give it up. I was led to believe cannabis smokers mix tobacco in, and as far as I am believing, smoking that is a cancer risk. I am perplexed by anyone smoking anything really..... a stupid thing to do.
  16. Do you believe they do it to save the planet, or save their pocket? Up to you of course.
  17. When I first came here I had this magnanimous moment at Christmas, and made a few care packages of rice, cooking oil, tinned fish etc, and went off to an area up Khao Talo where I heard all the scavengers (scrap collectors) and poor people lived. I saw so many new cars and motorcycles parked in front of hovels I was perplexed... they all claimed to be poor and in need though!
  18. Your situation sounds similar to mine, and I just forwarded money to my Thai account..... ( best rate for a while), I am looking out of the window and no tax collector yet! No point making yourself ill with worry......
  19. Don't worry..... these people will take ages to get their act together..... Think of the 300 baht tourist departure tax, the 10,000 baht payment to locals and other things dying on the vine. Even the cannabis legalization situation is a confused mess now!
  20. I see water bottles getting filled in the BIg-CX food court too. A bit sad. Might explain the profusion of 7-11s on Arunothai too.
  21. They are looking to tax income from overseas for both locals and Expats, so they got that covered!
  22. Distractions, to muddy the waters in the last month before a parole is issued.
  23. I tend to think it is clutching at straws, even a pathetic nonsense to attempt to justify smoking cannabis...... Might be more of a use as palliative for those who got the cancer already.
