  1. Said the Justice minister through the window of his new Bentley!
  2. Never really got my head around what a kebab really is... first I ever came across was meat, peppers and onions cooked on a skewer, served on flat bread. Probably came across those in Greece years ago. Many seem to mean what I call a Shawarma, meat cooked in a big cone, in front of of a vertical grill, which I had a lot in Middle East countries.....
  3. I use a blow-torch like Desperate Dan!
  4. It may still be a relevant question in relation to prices.
  5. Harder in Bangkok I find, I get a sense the traffic deliberately wants to impede or even hit you on the back roads.
  6. I only saw a blurred image and could not make that determination. If anything I think locals show their age more.
  7. Also known as head north to get drunk and laid?
  8. Probably of little benefit for an Expat to talk to a Thai monk in India.....
  9. What go fxck another thread! A very relative topic to most BMs completely screwed over!
  10. And snowbirds, people wanting to spend a spell away from a harsh winter. Summertime workers too, May to October laying bricks, then November to April laying something else. Other way round for Australians. I am sure there is a market there if they keep the cost of living here relatively low. The real money is in the millions of short term tourists though of course, few days to a month and in large numbers.
  11. Jumping lights is also dumb here, they dawdle when a light just turns green, finish off what they are doing on the phone. Traffic from the other side is racing and tailgating to get through the recent red.
  12. It is surprising but they are recognizable... obviously the fact they speak Thai and maybe the accent... but they dress better and are a bit classier. The women are well made up...usually very attractive.
  13. I had a pal who would move out of his condo for peak season and rent it out, go live in a cheap hotel. He rented it himself so was sub-letting.
  14. Yeah, people thinking we are going to return to pre-Covid, 2019 prices for condo rentals, airfares, hotels etc are dreaming. We had a bout of serious inflation in many places post Covid..... I am just hoping we can get traffic back to tolerable levels after the high season.....
  15. Not what was said.......
  16. There does seem to be a 'me me me ' mentality.
  17. Agreed, the annual 300 baht charge recently popped up on my account and after reading a few posts here I am no longer so aggrieved. What a lot of aggravation folks go through to avoid such a small cost.
  18. I just found mention of it back in 2008. http://www.pattayabeergarden.com/newspaper.html
  19. Yes, it sure is, and would be expected to be when anything that walks, flies or crawls is considered edible.
  20. I think he was being ironic....... One would need rocks in the head to think Pattaya was short on entertainment this time of year.
  21. And I just read on FB of group that had booked a room to turn up and find it was a scam....it is called the silly season, but after Covid, it is better named the greedy season as it was before. There will be an attitude lasting for a month or two more !
