You are quite right. I have increased the money I have sitting in a Thai bank and will use that for a while to see how things pan out. I can also use my home country ATM card, not the best financial way get baht, but I do not see how that can be monitored.

Yes, I leave that money sitting there and living expenses come from another account. I too recently finished my extension, I was back and forth to the bank, went there 3 times to get the assorted letters to do the Extension, plus had to make a deposit on the same day as the letter.....far more pedantic than last year.

And the place emptied out after high season and was quite pleasant....... I should have known better when making the decision to retire in a touristy area, but just didn't realize they would need to pack them in so tight!
