  1. That is the type of experience they will need for all their adult life!
  2. Surprised to see directions starting from Buakhao to find Soi Post Office and Yamoto..... these were happening places when Buakhao was a swamp with the lotus flowers it got the name from. I am so old!
  3. With or without the Carnation condensed milk?
  4. Get it in perspective mate...... that will be more than covered by tax others might well pay going into Government coffers.
  5. Going way off topic and off on a tangent like that detracts from the prior points you made!
  6. A good amount of what you write here sounds like the typical scamming that goes on to get large sums out of loved up foreigners by manipulative girls. Plenty of regular relationships around that do not have such requirements. Yes money is involved, but what is your idea of serious money? Getting a wife/ partner working is often unattractive if they lack skills and education, most jobs requiring long hours, 6 days a week and salaries are low... outside bar work.
  7. Used to be they killed them on the roads, and with ziplines.....another facet of tourism here that needs to be better focused on safety!
  8. There can be some very serious side effects. The high tax on vehicles (congestion tax and pollution tax) is killing commerce in London......but I still see the idea of getting people out of vehicles and onto a small train network as the way to go.
  9. Marry an only child or orphan! Fortunately mine does not have kids, and in the early days I warned her that no scrounging from family will be entertained and would likely lead to break up..... She gets money, up to her where it goes, but does not ask for more. But she/we are from ancient times, got together 20+ years ago, I suspect the bar girls these days need more!
  10. Passed the bus dropping off there Sunday morning... clearly just came off Hwy 7 and stopped. Quite convenient for me to pick up a pal, came off Hwy 7 and then back down Siam CC to get onto the Railway Line Rd again.
  11. There is a small station building at Pattaya, and I thought it surely could offer some rain protection. Sad they cannot offer transport onward that is not several times the train fare passengers just paid. At one time there were plans of a monorail or some domestic transport system... perhaps when the high speed train serving the touted EEC is operating.
  12. So you would like to think, I suspect not.
  13. One I have noticed a lot lately, completely illegible faded plates!
  14. Well Panama and Suez were talked of and took their time, perhaps Thailand is just making noises in the hope someone will pop up and pay for it with not too many strings attached.
  15. Thailand seems to offer a lot to people from neighboring countries, I come across so many of them, from my pool service, the guys who collect the rubbish and service in restaurants..... we all know most of the construction here is done by non Thais.
  16. Add that to the LGBQTxxx variations and questions abound!
  17. He is quite right that the guys at the RD will help you fill in a form and be reasonably cheerful about it... I gave them a big tin of biscuits to sweeten the task! That might well be when we were a rare visitor. If every farang on a retirement extension turned up asking for the favour, yes they would get fed up. I took a look at the form, it was of course only in Thai and I would not have known where to start!
  18. A tax agent on every corner, to go with the Visa agent, tattoo artist, massage and 7-11.
  19. Seen it pour out of windows when a vehicle stops by the roadside, and have passed many a construction vehicle fly tipping by the side of the road when I drive home (Railway bypass in Pattaya). Another thing their education system fails to teach.
  20. People in the States pay way too much for everything, and over-tip. Vegas typifies that!
  21. Your 'meaning' is your responsibility. Anyhow, since he is not in prison, it is all irrelevant.
  22. It's cheaper though..........! I think the OP is unaware of the traffic situation we get this time of year!
  23. If anything, post covid in my Pattaya area, I would say helmet wearing is far less than pre-Covid. There has been a distinct drop in policing. Used to see many carrying a helmet on Sukhumvit, ready to pop it on their head when they turned into town proper, they don't bother now!
