Done the trip in a car recently. No problem re sickness. It is normally the passenger that gets it. The roads have been improved and are in good condition except going into Pai. That is being rebuilt. There is a nice resort we stayed at a couple of kilometres before Pai. It is on the right next to the petrol station. !000 baht a night with huge breakfast and a massive swimming pool. Well worth it.

I always go inside the bank to withdraw cash. Might take a little bit longer but its safe !! Also its a good way to get to know the staff in case you need their assistance in the future.

I flew them a few weeks ago from chiang mai to BK and it was going threw my head about their safety rating, the plane seemed to be brand new boeing,it was packed with chinese and no frills.

I wonder what their safety rating is as not mentioned???

Lion Air Thailand has not been operating very long and has never had a problem so it doesnt have a safety rating. You are looking at Lion Air from another country, probably Indonesia. Lion Air Thailand does not fly internationally.

Lion Air Thailand is a completely separate operation from the Inernational company and has brand new 737-900 ER planes. My friend is a pilot and is very happy with the operation. I fly with them and love it. Good prices too.

For Christs sake ! Thats a bit more than a TENT ! Never seen one of those on a campsite ! Its more like an aircraft hangar or a cover over a car yard, not a tent ! Lucky more people werent hurt. Oh and by the way its not an accident, now it is called an incident, as there is an obvious cause i.e. lack of care, safety and construction tecquique. And common sense.

I never have a problem finding a hotel in Thailand even during the holiday period. Many times I just walk in and can still get a discounted rate. Americans and Europeans are not coming to Thailand like they used to but they are being replaced by the Chinese simply because there are so many of them that are now travelling and Thailand is a nearby and budget destination. they are not big spenders like those from the West but their large Numbers will keep some types of business from going broke. The lack of increases in tourist arrivals from the West does not make for long term profits in Thailand. Many two and three star hotels are just hanging on.

We walked into about 5 hotels over the Christmas period in several cities and had no problem getting a good room and the prices were not inflated for the holiday period. They were glad to get customers.

We have just stayed at Red Planet in Soi 14. Everything is brand new ! The whole hotel has been completely renovated. It must be the cleanest hotel in Bkk with a lovely comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom, with an extract fan ! Room is a bit small and no fridge but I get a hotel cos it is clean, quiet and comfortable so I get a good nights sleep. The staff and security is first class. About A$ 49 a night. Definitely look at this one. Its about 200 metres down Soi 14. You will pass a great outdoor restaurant on the way down.
