  1. Is it just me, or does there always seem to be someone grinning or sharing a joke when we are presented with these dreadfully tragic images?

That picture is horrible. The hospital staff clearly seems to be posing for the photo and finding it somehow amusing while the family grieves.

Nowhere does it say that the poor little girl was dead when the photo was taken. Dont talk rubbish if you dont know all the facts.

  2. obviously the first 80 metres is easy going, its nearly all in daylight with plenty of fresh air. Wait till they get in the middle where it will be rather uncomfortable to work in. Work rate will slow right down. Wont need their hats and wellies and Somtam will be harder to get. The photo clearly shows the pathetically under manned (more correctly, womanned) labour force. Hope they dig it deep enough !!

  3. Last year I saw a documentary about the new 787 factory in USA. It was filmed with a hidden camera, obviously, and the interviews with the workers, who were all unskilled, never worked on planes before, was scary. They said things like rivets are hammered in if the holes dont line up properly. finished items are not checked properly if at all. They all said they would never fly on a 787 and reckoned it would have major problems within 2 years. Try to find it and watch it if you can. However, I always fly on a 787 from Perth to Bangkok and I think it is a lovely plane.

  4. I dont understand why authorities increase security and have lots of checkpoints AFTER the event. Nobody is going to do a repeat

in the following few days. This would be the safest period. I remember years ago that I was flying to Phuket 2 days after the plane crash and friends said "Arent you going to cancel your flight ?" Why? There has never been 2 crashes in 3 days. Surely this must be the safest time to fly. The logic of numbers and chance.

  5. They estimate to use 40 tons of rubber for the bike lane surface. Thats 1 ton to do 4.5 klms. No where

near enough for a good surface using the benefits of rubber. It wont bind with the cheap tarmac they

will use and will delaminate within a year. A total waste of time and money, unless there are white

envelopes involved ! A better idea is to make 40 tons of condoms, then everybody will be happy !!

  6. Have to admit my first reaction to the picture was, where's the cutting gear.

Hope you dont mean oxy acetylene gear !! Even large grinders would be dangerous. You cant cut aluminium wood and plastic. Also the resulting fire from igniting the seats made from toxic foam would surely kill everybody. They need hydraulic equipment to tear open the roof first.

  7. Dont forget that 36 million is only the buying price. What about the extravagant maintenance costs and spare parts and training ? Nobody in the navy has even been in a submarine !!! As Thailand has never had subs before where will they get the essential skilled technicians to do the maintenance ? Oops, sorry, they dont do maintenance ! So what about the storage costs when they break down ? If they are lucky enough not to break down in the depths of the Gulf. Another folly like the Blimp, nuclear power and democracy.

  8. I NEVER use my card in a foreign ATM. Firstly the exchange rate is crap, there is a large fee to use it with a foreign card and an ATM is a prime site for skimming. If I need money I will go inside the bank to make a withdrawal. That way the bank is responsible for any faults in the transaction. I have never had a problem. I still take cash when going abroad. I hate the plastic money.

  9. Surely there must be a limit as too how much is in a bag. When I was young I worked for Securicor for a while and the limit was 10,000 Pounds per bag. You could only carry 1 bag at a time. I got caught by an inspector carrying 10 bags at a place where we had to deliver over 30 bags and had a 5 minute walk. We both got dismissed !! Didnt care. Went on to much better things.

Security for money transport has been and always will be a problem unless you have 10 armed guards. Not a legal or feasible idea.

  10. Dogs have alway been a nuisance. When i was in my teens,i had a job delivering groceries.

.One day I delivered to a large house, I had both arms full of boxes,I rang the bell with my elbow, The door opened and a large black Labrador mounted my leg,and started to

try and screw it ( make love to it ) The Lady of the house yelled to me KICK HIS BALLS, so there I am loaded with boxes trying to kick the dogs privat parts.

She the yelled at me NO NO NOT THOSE !! THE ONES ON THE LAWN!!

Aaha ! A closet Jasper Carrott fan from the distant past !! That was a great sketch this story came from. See if you can find it.
