  1. Seems all the Government departments are on a mass scramble for money. Tax hike on Alcohol, new tax inspectors, land investigations, now the police are going to chase their backlog. It looks like Thailand will become an increasingly difficult and expensive place to live.

    M

You make yourself sound like a criminal. How else would police investigations of unsolved crimes, land investigations, tax inspections make life more difficult. In fact, for honest people, it makes life easier. And as for alcohol tax hikes, that happens in the UK every year.

This sounds like an effort to clean up the system and find the criminals and tax dodgers. They should be applauded for doing that. People on TV always complain if the government don't take action, but also complain if they do. What do you suggest, that they leave crimes unsolved, allow people to illegally use land and avoid tax?

Where have you been for the past couple of years. It dates back for me 25 years. It ani't going to happen. It IS just another sound bite.
  2. Funny how DTAC gets threated with fines if their service is disrupted yet everytime it rains my cable tv operator tends to go blank but never a mention of fines? perhaps there was but I missed it.

    ps I dont use DTAC.

Or what about when TOT internet went down 8 different times country wide in May. No problems with that either.
  3. It depends on how new the movie is and the level of English or whatever language that they have. Google Thai subtitles and you will find many to add to your movies. And the other thing is do you understand how to add the subtitles when you find them. I did not and had to be taught properly.

  4. The PM told us a few weeks ago that prices had not gone up too much, street noodles were the same as last year, staples were the same or less, etc

Not sure how she will account for the smaller bowl that noodles are served in, the tax increases which have gone into effect and those proposed, and a few other little hicups. She does seem to have a new reply, "I am not aware of that, who/what are you referring to?".

Guess she is covered up in local as well as international travel plans, photo ops, etc.

The PM says what is written by her brother. What happens at the grocery store or market is not her concern and she has no clue.
  5. Haha, yellows do this to Thaksin in US and you sing praises. Double standards all around and they are all equly bad including Abhisit.

The anti-Thaksin protesters in Los Angeles allowed the small convoy of cars to reach the venue, quite rightly too as they were there only to show their dissent, whereas here the Red-Shirts "blocked the entrance", can you not see a difference there ? wink.png

The LA yellows threw bottles at cars and TS could not reach his venue. (Insert childish smiley)

Absolute BS! Thaksin was parked outside the entrance to the venue and NO protestors encroached on him, nor were they permitted to do so by law enforcement agencies.

The only lie they know is the one that Mr. T told them that only benefits Him being shown strong. When we know he's a spinless coward except when he has back up gangs or is in Dubai.
  6. What is it with Thai police they are just beyond useless. They have no will or inclination to do anything which resembles hard work. Perhaps if they actually did a decent days work they may have a case for a pay rise.

Without wanting to get sidetracked, but the police share a fair slice of responsibility for the whole red shirt riots as they were proven to be bias, unwilling and just plain scared to deal with the civil disorder that the red shirts caused. I remember they ran away crying because it was too dangerous. As a result the army was called in. A fact often overlooked

They can't even 'organise' the rush hour traffic

Sure they can, it's called parking.

  7. But if the Democrats do this to them, it's illeagle, immoral, up for censure, and the probabilitly of someone getting hurt is very high. When the the double standards go away? I know, never. I would take any of the top 10 Democrats to anyone in this government as PM any day of the week. That is if this group of gangs would allow them to govern instead of burning down Bangkiok

  8. As an American Citizen, I am embarrassed by our US government's groveling at the feet of Thaksin.

The fact is that he is a convicted criminal, who jumped bail. That is a fact. And there is no way under US law he should be granted a visa...unless higher ups in the Immigration Dept approved it and told the lower grade officers to give him a visa. Despicable in my view. He has no right to enter our country. He is a convict. He was tried by the Thai judicial system, not by the coup makers. His wife, with Thaksin's written permission, was given the special right to buy a huge tract of valuable government property near Suvarnabhumi Airport, just before the government auctioned the land, at a huge discount. Classic corruption....as was Thaksin's arrogant style. Those were the types of things that got him thrown out of power. His buying his way back into power.... by funding huge sums of money to Puy yai bans, Orbortors, MP's, etc through out the northeast and north....is common knowledge...not even disputed. But the US government decides to play sides and act like this was just a political prosecution and a political injustice. Embarrassing...for me.

  9. A Thai senator accidentally shot his cousin dead as he tried to put away the 9mm sub-machine gun that he had placed on the table during a family meal, police said Monday

Has got to be the most off the wall sentence I have read, only on a par with "It was the day my grandmother blew up", and that was fiction

Out on Bail. Sentence Suspended. May be the next reports on this if any.
