  1. I have met them many times in the Thai hotels/resorts. They walk next to eachother and will never give way for anybody else. They take all the beachbeds at 6 am and start drinking there right after breakfast, yelling, rude behaviour, being very wild and drunk at 1pm before they go take a nap. At the breakfast buffet a fat russian bloke grabbed the whole pile of plates while my arm allready was reached out to take a plate. He waited for his group of friends who came a few minutes later and gave them all a plate. They piled them plates up, ate only half of it and went for a new pile. Leftovers disappeared in their bags for lunch.

They barely speak english, don't care at all for other tourists, are agressive and only drink/eat all day.

I know there are other nationality's which also can be rude but the russians are the worst for me.

Just my own experience and opinion. From now on i only want to go in a hotel where there are no russians.

    Quality tourists

  2.

I have two Nephew's that married Russian women back in the states, They have integrated well in to life in the US, but also keep their Russian language, culture and food. Much socialization with many other Russian women that live in the same cities also married to U.S. men.

Young, great looking women that seem to welcome and enjoy the US way of life.

I never have interacted with Russian's in Thailand!

    Cheers:.

I interacted with a russian girl once: I was knackered in the morning

  3. try alaskan pollock from Makro. 185 baht a kg, frozen on board ship and apparently a sustainable fishery. Tastes a bit like cod.

same family, different surname. Ask Makro shelfstackers for a subspecies of atlantic cod if you have time on your hands. Alternatively, look out for alaskan pollock!

  4. I would open an online account at Ktzmico, and invest 1 mil in 4-5 Thai companies (major banks, etc maybe?) and hold 1 mil in cash at the best local interest rate, waiting for the fall of Shinism.

Then I would open an online trading account at Interactive Brokers or any other cheap brokerage, and transfer the rest of the money there, holding 25% in cash. Subscribe to Motley Fool stock advisor, read that for a while before you get carried away, and follow their advice, using only a small portion for the more speculative investment ideas.

I think that 7-10% is possible but by no means guarranteed.

Best advice: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isnt true.

    Thats my honest best advice

  5. Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war..... anything to get rid of current Shindigs (Shinawatra Party)

Not for me..... for the future of my kids, in case they defy my wishes and settle in Thailand.

Incidentally, the Shakespeare quote comes from his play Julius Caesar, where another ambitious megalomaniac overreached his populist mandate, and the whole thing ended in tears. There are in fact many parallels between Julius Caesar and Thaksin.

    Beware the Ides of March!!!!

  6. And none of the above criticise the senate members for not turning up, facilitating continued protest and unrest.......tunnel vision at its best

I think that in a case such as this, absolutely all the senators should be there to cast a vote.

Given that by the very nature of their jobs they live in all provinces of the country, giving them a day's notice to be there was unprofessional as well as undemocratic.

    Your post, therefore, is balderdash!

"absolutely all senators there to cast a vote"

Right......and when you wake up how do you think in the bright light of the Thai day

You may also take into account it is reported that a group of 40 senators are said to have boycotted the debate, mentioning "outside person" was lobbying senators to bring forward the amnesty bill debate in a bid to put a quick end to the political protests

Rather suggests your post is embarrassing and my initial post rather more linked to reality

I think Thaksin's tentacles stretch to the Senate

  7. this is going to take a little longer to process.

The proposal must first go to this guy who will pass it up or along to this guy, then that guy must pass it o to the other guy who in turn needs to get approval from that guy. When approval is granted, the same guy must move it along to that guy who in turn passes it to some other guy. That guy needs to take it to the top guy who doesn't know anything about it so he passes it to his guy and so on and so on and so on and so on...............................

Normally, yes. But with the Shinawatres in complete control of government, anything the Chinese want will be fast-tracked.

As a Chines official recently said " chinese have a better understanding of Thai politics"

Indeed they do: high level corruption is a deeply ingrained cultural tradition in both countries.

  8. I would guess he was an inexperience rider, probably his 1st time on a bike and going to fast. Who rents a 500CC bike to a 15 yr old child? Did the child even have a licence, somehow I doubt it very much. These rental companies have a degree of duty of care to ensure that their customers are licenced and not just for their safety but also for other road users.

Neither one of them probably had a license. The shock will come when the hospital bill is presented; as far as I know most insurance companies will not pay a cent if you ride without a license (and many companies specifically exclude cover for riding bikes abroad).

Maybe Daddy will keep an eye on them once he feels the pain in his wallet
