I know what you mean. Why I remember reading a thread about a guy who accused all Thais of having no shame or morals because they overcharged him 5 baht on a cup of coffee. Imagine confusing a 5 baht overcharge with shame and morals and worse applying his judgement to all Thai people because of his experience.
I don't know what to say.
I don't know what makes Farang so bitter. Especially over 5 baht.
its not the money, its the principle.
I hate being overcharged, and it seldom happens, simply because, when it happens, I pay quietly and then tell the owner that because he/she overcharged, I will never come back and tell all my frnds to avoid the place.
Exception = national parks, where I throw a wobbly (if need be), and get Thai prices without fail.
As for crumbly monuments such as the Emerald Buddha, the shrine of Thainess, I have not visited it in 22 years of residence, simply because I don't give a flying f++k about whether it crumbles or not.

OMG, this is a big, big bust, enough for a couple of joints. The BIB who we taxpayers fund and endure, should now be worrying about their jobs, rather than this.....
.....'cos when the inevitable revolution takes place, they will need to worry about their lives: and from everything I see, the revolution is finally within sight.

Why on earth would you want to do that?
I can only assume that you are coming here from North Korea...and didn't cheer loud enough for the great leader's birthday.
If you are from a civilised country, do you not love your kids?
My clear advice is don't do it, you will regret it, unless the wife isn't doing the business any more, in which case Thailand still has some advantages

OK then. Wait until someone dies and then have a clampdown as it is ruining the cuntry's image

^^^^^^^^ Ha ha I'm not that bad. 3 bedroom house in Sakon city 14500 baht for 3 months. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
Is Sakon a safe area? How about the Muslim problem? is there enough about the place to keep you interested?
There seem to be two places with the same name... One in isaan (wikipaedia speaks of this one), and one in Saturn which is the only one google maps can suggest... Where are you living exactly?
Uranus perhaps....... or Mars

He'll be claiming he fathered Lin Hui's offspring next Sent from my Nexus 4 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
I don´t think so, he can´t even father a turd.
Yes he can father a turd: he proved that. The turd shot a policeman, and got away with it.
I would say the likes of Chalerm still being in parliament after 2 decades of shenanigans are a large part of the reason for the present gridlock.
Wherever there is stink in parliament, Chalerm is certain to be close by

Brake failure again. Must be bad Karma. Nothing to do with bad people, ingnorance, bad systems, GREED etc. The dreaded H.. word for brake failure springs to mind.
Thailand is finally making it big time (as a failed state)

I bet it will soon become a crime punishable by 15 years in prison to video a policeman in the derelicttion of his duties, or to publish such videos. In the meantime, keep the cameras rolling.....

Erm...... lets skip Bangkok on our next trip to Vietnam, Myanmar or Cambodia.....
Just as I skipped a 2 day transit through Delhi to visit Agra, recently, on account of visa fees.
I must say, I welcome the idea.
This will definitely get rid of trash tourists who clog up the airports and streets. Most westerners have been to Thailand at least once amyway....

Good Lord, Thais are turning into fuzzie-wuzzies. We shall soon have to call out Corporal Jones, 'cos they don't like it up'em.

It has been a funny year in Thailand; politics are hopeless as usual, but there have been bright spots and dark spots.
Chalerm Yoobumrung had a brain aneurism. It was significant in a number of ways. It finally proved (conclusively?) that he had a brain, but the incident might have been overplayed by his spin-doctors. The outpouring of grief over his illness was astounding. He survived, and the joy among the populace was palpable.
He also declared that if he does not succeed in bringing Thaksin back by the new year, his supporters may behead him.
The bad news is that there are 17 more days to go, but the chances are that Thaksin will be celebrating his new year in the sandpit.
Oh well.....

Well done..... You will find out how fair minded, cultured, intelligent and non-racist we farangs really are. You have come to the right place!

Yes, I can.If you are not trying hit and run and if you really like her why hurry? Can't you have some patience for someone you like?
But I've been seeing her twice a week for six weeks, isn't that a bit long to be where we are? That's a genuine question, not rhetorical... I dont know Thai dating culture.
But I know in the UK, go more than a few dates and you still haven't even kissed, if you're not escalating things.. you're going to get friendzoned very fast.
Get some relief from old mrs.palm and her five lovely daughters....

While he was trapped underwater, he penned the following letter,
Dear Friend,
I know this letter comes as a surprise to you.
I have been trapped in a boat for the last three days. While contemplating my imminent death, I was moved by God to impart you the good news that my father, former nigerian oil minister, had left me USD10,000,000 ( Ten Million US dollars) which I would like to transfer to a trustworthy partner such as yourself. Unfortunately, because of my fathers position, I am not able to transfer funds without a correspondent bank overseas.
In view of our trusted relationship, I undertake to share with you 20 percent of the sum transferred.
Please do not divulge these details to any other party.........

Its really surprising, I agree.
After all, Thai is the Lingua Franca of international commerce, and given the country's predominant role as a hub of everything, destined to supplant Mandarin, English and Spanish in the near future.
I hear that parents in the US, Europe and China are queuing up to enrol their kids for Thai lessons, so they can compete in the global economy, or maybe just negotiate a decent price for a BJ

Trying to be serious (for a moment). I refer only to global hubs, not regional hubs
- It is a hub for Thai food: nowhere else in the world do you get better Thai food at cheaper prices.
- It is a hub for Thai language use and Thai language education. Nowhere else in the world can compete.
- It is a hub for Thai massage: they are on every street corner and quite affordable.
- It is legitimately a worldwide hub for the commercial sex industry; I have never been anywhere else where it is so widespread, professionally run, and competitive in terms of price / service, and tolerated by the powers that be.
- It is a hub for the production of mulberry paper (in northern Thailand) ..... Not a lot of people know or care about that, I suppose, but pretty sure about that.
- It probably is a hub for the production of Durian..... not sure about that,.... maybe Indonesia or malaysia????
- It was a hub for rice export.......Maybe,,,,,, just maybe it will be so again, but I doubt it, as the country will soon get a reputation for selling rotten rice.... sure as 16 million tons of the stuff in storage.
I cant think of anything else.... can you?

Suthep on Tuesday called for the creation of an unelected administration to run the country,...:
basically not a bad idea, considered how 'well' democracy and elected governments function in thailand. but the question is: who will select this administration?
i am sure that suthep would imagine that either he would be a part of the selection team or any body near to his party - and that is would be a total non-starter and lead only to more upheveals in the future.
maybe it would be the best if the UN would administer thailand for a while? or at least select the (thai) people administering thailand?
I think the best way forward would be to hire Singapore to run Thailand. Given the cost of corruption to Thailand, the country could pay a significant management fee to the Singapore government, and everyone would be better off.
