  1. Not true in my case . I have and am not UK resident. For telephone banking FD gave me a "customer no" rather than a postcode.
  2. Unless an agent can conveniently bypass the whole procedure, bt3500 seems a waste of money just to schedule an appointment. Cert of residence easily obtained, while passport copy, medical cert and required tests at the centre you have to do yourself anyway.
  3. FD recently advertised a Bonus Savings account offering 2.6% for existing account holders. Up to GBP20K, instant access, with loss of interest for any month a withdrawal is made.
  4. Many people "have" UK bank accounts and credit cards which continue in use under non UK resident status, with address in Thailand Opening a new account, however, is a different game and a non-starter.
  5. Those steps are not particularly tailored for Foreigner's feet ! Not the best activity to undertake if you happen to be nursing a hangover???? also . Speedy recovery young fella.
  6. Offshore banking is the option then, as UK banks appear to require residency to open a Fixed Term Savings Account. LLoyds International and others offer rates around 4% currently. Opening an account is a pain, however, as need to show proof of address in Thailand and probably certify your passport. Also requires a linked account for fund transfers.
  7. The emphasis on hand sanitation seems to have died a death in favour of the more visible mask wearing agenda. Perhaps everyone should wear surgical gloves also ?
  8. Well, nothing's mentioned about having to have a Thai translation of any insurance policy, so if it's a concern, just get and print a quote and bluff it !
  9. It doesn't, but the wording "before entering the country" is hardly comforting ! Presumably they'll just suggest and provide a list of "reputable" brokers and then up to you .
  10. Knobheads. Must have read the GRAB signage and decided to "take it by the horns".
  11. Actually, the report, of which you are keen to throw at others, also states "in the room". If you're so keen to belittle others for not reading the link, then at least don't misquote that very link to suit yourself.
  12. Was merely correcting a previous pedantic post regarding the wording in the link .Don't believe I commented on his sleeping habits. Is that not admissible ? ????
  13. Do you consider the use of "Immigration endorsed" agents to bypass legal requirements an acceptable pratice ? Or is it simply a case of double standards ?
  14. Stick 5baht and a candle on it and float it down the Mun river next Loy Kratong ?
  15. Think you need to ask a 13yr old Thai girl. might even get some of those insufferable stickers thrown in !????
  16. Changing a sizeable ? amount of cash before meeting a 'contact' in the Arrivals hall...........I'm almost intrigued !????
  17. If that's the case. then why would anyone bother at all with getting a licence ? How about if the person driving was found to be over the legal limit, for instance ?
  18. Well, if they really want to watch it, they'll be having some late nights/early mornings to contend with. With kick -offs at 10pm and 2am it's gonna get messy for some !
  19. At least British females normally have the decency to shave their armpits !????
