Russian natural gas supplies to Germany via the Baltic Sea pipeline Nord Stream 1 have been halted for 10 days for annual maintenance work. But German Economy Minister Robert Habeck warned that EU countries had to be prepared in case gas shipments did not resume. He has accused the Kremlin of using gas "as a weapon" in response to EU sanctions over the war in Ukraine. BBC News article

SAS operatives in Afghanistan repeatedly killed detainees and unarmed men in suspicious circumstances, according to a BBC investigation. Newly obtained military reports suggest that one unit may have unlawfully killed 54 people in one six-month tour. The magic formula has NEVER been found. Relationships work for a variety of reasons, whose to say what is wrong or right for that person except the person themselves. Each to his own, thats why they are "special" when you get it right. -

Given the opportunity, die with dignity and not be a burden to anyone would be the preferred choice of most I would think. How you actually achieve that is another matter. Sri Lanka's beleaguered President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has confirmed his resignation, says the prime minister's office, after protesters stormed both leaders' official residences. Demonstrators are still occupying the presidential palace and prime ministerial residence and have refused to leave until the leaders step down. The visa cost is not going to be a deciding factor in whether you travel or not. Its a waste of money stopping the fee. They would be better stopping the ridiculous paper laden process and hassle it causes by making visa/extensions LONGER like 60 day exempt and 2 or 5 yr visas and scrap 90 day reports.Be more hospitable not hostile ! -

Boris Johnson will today resign as prime minister as he finally bows to the pressure of swathes of government resignations. A No 10 source said Mr Johnson had spoken to the chairman of the Conservative backbench 1922 Committee, Sir Graham Brady, and agreed to stand down, with a new Tory leader set to be in place by the party's conference in October.
