  1. No changes for the visa application.

Nok Air is now offering the fly/ride service via 3 airports to Mukdahan from DMK.. You get the transport back to airport at the Ploy Palace hotel in Mukdahan.

Cheers Joe, just hope NOK can find a pilot on the day!!

Air Asia also does the fly/ride service Mukdahan via Nakhon Phanom from DMK.

Do you happen to know what days the embassy in Savannakhet may be closed.

I'm looking at going 14 March to 17 March

  2. Nearly time again for me fellas, just the usual annoying questions...Is it business as usual to get a non O multi entry? (based on marriage)

Are Nok still doing the following: Plane from Phuket-Bkk- the other place (name?), Mini bus pickup, then to the boarder crossing . Drop passport with papers at the embassy in the morning, pick up passport the next day, back to the hotel (name?) in Mukdahan for a night, mini bus to the other place(name?), return flights.

What was the name of the hotel in Savan on the river (stayed at the casino last time couldn't stand the place)

    Cheers in advance.

  3. What the government here is doing is insane. More and wider roads will never solve neither traffic congestions or accidents. Great traffic flow is only achievable with good training and discipline of drivers so that everyone to any time know what to expect from other drivers plus knock in a 360 degree u/turn in attitude towards fellow road users.

So you don't want a change in attitude towards fellow rd users....

  4. Going from Kata to Phuket town. Is there a way to avoid this place. Some detour that is easy to find if you'r not use to drive in the area? Thanks for suggestions.

The only other ways are either go through HomePro or the soi behind it or via Patong.
Or the soi before it. Afaik there are 3 shortcuts.

Thats what i meant by the soi behind it

  5. Chao Fa West is one giant long constrution zone with no relief in site for the next few years. What a clustertruck.

Why is there not a meeting as it was for the "Movie Museum"?

If I remember correctly, there was talk about removing the pillars, they are still there.

There was few public meeting awhile back if memory serves.

  6. It's very hard to feel sorry for them but you have to understand that some very powerful people own all the tuk tuk plates. The tuk tuk drivers have to pay most of the money they make upstairs. In the region of 2500 to 3000 baht a day. Times that by the number of tuk tuks and it's a very lucrative monopoly that nobody will give up for the sake of the island progressing.

There's quiet a few "Not very powerful people" that own just 1 or 2.
Not true. There are no independent tuk tuk owners. The plate licences are out of reach for the minions and controlled by those in powerful positions for decades.

The plates are leased to groups sometimes with or without the crappy Daihatsu attached. The bosses of the groups takes his cut and pays the big man upstairs. It's a patriarchal system like everything else in Thailand.

This is why there has never been change in the industry.

If they were dealing with independant operators the mess would have been cleaned up long ago due to them not being powerful or influential.

You are wrong, there are independent owners, they don't drive them though.
