  1. Big shop (TOA Color ?) on 108, Chiang Mai - Hong Dong Rd., about half way between Lotus and Big C on the opposite side. They had a fitting that I could not find anywhere else. Too many to display out front in the store so shelved in the back.

  2. I was just reading about that in the news. Both are French owned and see, with the buy out, Big C will pass Tesco Lotus with number of outlets in Thailand. I personally never visit Carrefour because of location to me so I won't notice the change.

  3. Moo 1 is not a street or lane. It is a part of Moobahn (village) which is part of a Tambon (sub-district) which is part of an Amphoe (district) which is part of a Changwat (province).

From Thai Language.com: หมู่ (Moo) [part of a street address in Thailand]; neighborhood; block

Thanks for that the address is wrong on the form i have .

Perhaps the address was intended to say Mahidol 1 ?

  4. looking at the vid clip as noted, I think this is being promoted by ConJo Enterprises.

That would be short for con job.

How many Rai di someone state in an earlier post ????

As depicted in the video, it would probably stretch half way to Chiang Rai.

I like progress, but something like this would destroy the Chiang Mai we all have fallen in love with.....

    just my opinion

    Same feelings ...

  5. I went today to Home Pro and Global House today. Home Pro seemed to have the better selection in the lower price range, with the cheapest starting at 14,000, and then quite a few to choose from for a few thousand more. I looked at various Teka, Tecno and Smeg brand ovens before choosing an Electrolux model for 17,000. It just seemed better built than the other offerings, better controls, much tighter coiled grill (more even grilling I hope) better fitting and better quality shelf and tray with rack. I get it delivered tomorrow for free; not too bad a deal I think.

Am I imagining it, or have ovens come down a lot in price. I thought that previously you needed to spend more like 25,000 to get something worth buying? :o

Good deal ! And I'll bet for that price it even included a bottom so you can't see the floor when you pull out the tray.

  6. Up in the N/E corner, inside moat road, there is a bike shop where I've seen a variety of bike accessories and they may be able to help. Possibly a little longer "goose neck" mount to raise up more or different bars altogether?

  7. We renovated our kitchen last year and the range/oven we bought we got from Global mainly because of the many choices they had. No complaints with either the range top or oven and my wife likes to bake too.

  8. Don't do what some Thai people did a few years ago and put a charcoal burner in the tent to keep warm. They put it in the kids tent and in the morning the where dead from either no oxygen or carbon monoxide poisoning..

I know better than that and thought that's why you brought the wife along, to snuggle up to and keep warm at night!:whistling:

  9. We've got 'em popping up around here as well. I keep scooping them out of our mini garden pond and throwing them in the flower bed. I just figured because the rains have stopped and the ground is drying up that they're coming up in search of moisture. My guess.:)

  10. Love the cooler air, but am wearing a jacket in the evenings now.

My gf gets very very cold so bought her a real hard core North Face skiing jacket today with the inside jacket in it as well. She is very happy now :)

I think she likes her new "gig" better then me at the moment blink.giflaugh.gif

Maybe better to take the jacket back (at least at night) so she'll come to you to keep warm.

  11. "Nippy out there". Isn't that what the residents of Pearl Harbour said in the morning of December 7, 1941?

I was a bit uncomfortable riding my motorcycle last night while wearing only shorts and sandals. Fantastic during the day though. I might even wear a jacket tonight when I go out.

Cooler at nights but absolutely beautiful days! No complaints here! I wish I had some kind of weather recorder to capture these days!

  12. Don't complain......I prefer this to the 42C heat in April.May which was just unbearable....especially as I am such a 'cheap charlie' I won't buy air-con! Lost a few Kgs in sweat though.....so every cloud!

Does make me laugh when the Thai's buy jackets and coats that would go snowboarding in...they look like they are going on an Arctic Expedition!

Get yourself up to Pai in a few weeks, gets nippy up there!

Take a visit up to Doi Inthanon ! Makes here in town feel like the tropics again (after you thaw out and get feeling back).

  13. After driving my friend around on my scooter last night i had to pry my fingers off the handlebars. Brr...

Apprehensive about my morning shower. The chill factor that follows is not something im looking forward to.

You gotta do it though or you may not have a friend to ride behind you on the scooter next time!

  14. :whistling:

    That looks terrible! :)

To the OP: Be careful not to over-water. Many plants are more easily killed with too much water than too little. With any plant that's moved from anywhere to anywhere else they'll go through some initial shock where you should take it very easy. Less is more, give the plant some time to sort itself out, without too much of anything. (sun, heat, water, fertilizer (don't use any) etc.) With potted plants (incl. Bonsai) you can then start experimenting where the plant feels happiest.

What kind of plant is it actually?

Let me try that shot again while the sun's on it and from another angle! :) It's going through it's yearly, seasonal, leaf change and soon be a lot thicker.

'seasonal leaf change'? hmmm that may be it! :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

Yeah I've been reading up on these since your posting and see that they can be sensitive to relocation too, causing the leaves to change and fall. Don't move it around too much as well as not over watering to let it adjust. Soinds like yours could use the outdoors under a shade tree with humidity (big pot of water nearby) and a little water when the soil dries completely. Good luck!

  16. 14 in Pai. Nice moonrise.

Must be all the concrete and asphalt down here keeping us 'warm'. 16 at sunrise. Sounds like you may have to throw another log on the fire up there.;)

  17. CMF, I don't know if this will help but we have one that's over 30 years old and has been sitting in the same general area outside it's whole life. It's in the same soil too. The location is on the s/e side of the house in an area that's shaded by a mango tree but still gets sun for an hour or two in the morning. Rain reaches it as well. No additional food or furtilizers are added. We water it during the dry months. The orchid on a piece of wood in the pic was added a couple of years ago. Cool trees these are.

  18. That's 500 baht for a litre of beer

And we complain about the price of petrol.:lol:laugh.gif

I don't...its still almost half the price of petrol in the UK. Just to make people there happier, VAT goes up to 20% from 1st January. Oh; and beer here works out at about 70p a pint if you buy a box of 12 bottles. Over 3 quid a pint now in most British pubs!

wow, almost double the price in the UK? It's close to the same here as the states. I always thought it was a regulated thing but after hearing this I guess not.

  19. I'd like to go, but have the feeling it might be far too crowded!

Beer sampling is advertising and should be free.

heh heh, if it was free then it would definately be far too crowded. Every wino in town would be there.
