  1. Some of the best foot massages I've had have hurt during the massage...but after - wow - what a difference from the tired feet I had when walking in.....others - well at least I rested for an hour......Also I've found that short duration massages don't allow for proper rejuventaion - 1/2 hour is not going to do much of anything for you.....

In some it's more like a rub down without the actual applied technique.....the shoulders thing just takes away time from the feet.....

You are right - finding a good massage that works for you can be hard to find....if one is good I try and get their number because some seem to move from place to place - like hair cutters - get the number and become "their" customer...much better than trolling around to find someone else that is a good practitioner......

  2. The police assume that this prostitute might be part of a criminal gang involved in the drugging and stealing of property from unlucky victims. They appear to be experts in these crimes, by finding the victims, then takes them to motels where they drug them and steal their property then make a quick escape.

Great powers of deduction, I say.

Great powers of deduction seduction......fixed it for you (how the hell do I turn the itallics off?) ..........wai2.gif

  3. Bedsheets & linens - best place is located in Baan Tawai (Soi 15?).......they supply the 5 star hotels in CM and it's all good-best quality (and we looked everywhere) at a reasonable price (somewhere in my posts I locked down the location - PM me and I can give a pretty accurate description).....

We had to buy for 2 guest beds + our linens.........about a year and going strong......it's good enough that I wouldn't consider going anywhere else.....better in fact than most found in the US. They told us they have their own mill and thus control quality.......top notch stuff.....

We had originally bought some at Big C and it was only OK although we read the packaging & studiously checked everything......

I know an earlier thread was devoted to this with some people going to BKK to find/buy = not necessary.....

Blenders, etc - Big C - Tesco Lotus ------> Macro possibly worth the first look.....

  4. You know - sometimes we're just one step away.....

I look at some of the stairways at landmarks/temples...some bars and wonder how someone unsteady ever makes it whether just a miss-step of alcohol assisted.

Went over the bridge at Ob Luang the other day - I'm 6'4" and there is NO way I could reach the hand rail - it was not a comfortable moment.....different from what happened to in the OP - but still one step away.....

My house has all teak furniture - I'd bet it's pretty unforgiving.....

  5. There is an Irish Pub in CM....

Chiang Rai with the White & Black temples...The Queen Mothers Garden.

Pai is interesting for a couple of days with a drive or tour to the Long Necks, waterfalls, parks along the way. Hill tribe areas also...hot springs...elephant rides or feeding/photo op (20B for bananas)....waterfalls along the way up....

Doi Inthanon is a half day trip...highest peak in Thailand with beautiful gardens and shrines.

Ob Luang National Park has a nice gorge with hiking, petroglyfs from ancient man...along with caves and a geyser.....

    River rafting in Hang Dong.....

    Temples ala-carte all over.....

Of course the Saturday/Sunday/Night bazaar markets....

One guest recently took a 4 day course in Thai cooking from the CM Cookery School and loved every minute of it...can take 1-2-3-4-5 day up to you.....

Bo Sang - Baan Tawai for interesting shopping/strolling.....

  6. I don't know why people have to be that way and treat other people in a grumpy way. Filled up in a filling station in Hang Dong about a week or so ago....I mostly have fun with the attendants because I'm tall and they like to stand next to me - all in good fun...we always share smiles when I fuel up there.

Some other Farang pulled in in a small pick up - got out - probably about my age but mismatched clothes, smallish wrinkled bitter looking guy with a neck chain with 3-4 amulets swinging around like fishing weights & starts barking at the attendants in a gruff way - so gruff that they all shied away - he wanted someone to wash his windshield and was most unpleasant in his approach and demeanor. About that time they were washing my windshield & that of the car behind me happily without being asked. This guy had such an onerous black cloud around him that he actually poisoned the whole immediate area - cutomers and attendants. They shied away.

I was tempted to go ask him if one of those amulets was for protecting @$$holes like himself - but decided that one farang looking bad did not justify another one joining into a possible confrontation.....fortunately I drove away and forgot about this clown but others are stuck with him throughout life - sadly.....

  7. If you had read the original story it seemed the 17 year old was ok with the sex but NOT ok about not being paid on time!!!! this was not a kid, he was over 15 years old and looks like he gave consent.

no, it is not okay. neither is it okay to go out and look on the street or in special establishment for underage prostitutes and pay them for service nor is it okay if you misuse your position of a teacher like authority figure to manipulate underage victims in this kind of situation. there is no consent.

My guess is that he/many were "groomed" for this type of "servoce"....You're 12-17 with no home and tha abbott/monk is your teacher....this abbott died too easily and the kid/boy/child is a pawn in an area he probably didn't know existed until he landed in the temple.....nothing about this is right......

And anyone that still believes in global warming hasn't studied the weather patterns for the last few 1000 years.....
