Your trash can and sidewalk examples are exactly what the large majority of English speakers understand " official international standard of British English" sounds like something that no one cares about in 2023. All languages change and so does British English except for some very stubborn folks. To say an English teacher should not use the terms sidewalk or trash can or truck or dozens of other terms is a ridiculous. I bet 99% of a people in England know exactly what a sidewalk is. Also when these students want to travel etc it's best to learn the words that almost everyone understands. Archaic languages and words are not understood anymore.

Yes. Yours about needing a tetanus treatment for sex with Indians. Moronic. Insanely racist. -
Survey reveals increasing homelessness in Thailand

I guess you are the type who answers my questions with several questions. Never mentioned busy bar in Nana but maybe that's where you hang. Another poster only mentioned Nana area and that's Sukhumvit to me. I'd say most countries are having some economic issues. Should I blame Biden for this? Please don't answer should I blame Trump lol. It's just to predictable. This topic is about the homeless numbers in Thailand. My question to you was about this topic. -
Survey reveals increasing homelessness in Thailand

You seem to know a lot about homelessness ( maybe ). But how do you know about it? Because someone begs on the street in Bangkok does not mean they don't go to some kind of " home " after. You seem to be overly political as well. I've arrived recently and met many others who have. The airplanes are all packed. Nobody cares about politics here if they are visiting. I actually noticed famous islands and tourist destinations here BEFORE Covid with extremely low amounts of tourists but TAT said numbers were huge. Your last paragraph is overly dramatic. That paragraph minus the two names was something that certain posters 12 years ago would say verbatim. Remember the Tsunami?? I mean Thailand came back in impressive form! I'm not saying 2499 homeless is true but it seems the heavy tourist areas as mentioned in Nana and also places like Silom and few others are hot spots here for them. But they seem to leave after a few hours of begging. -
Survey reveals increasing homelessness in Thailand

Extremely low. 2,499 in a country with about 70 million is envious to many Western cities. Los Angeles with 3/4 million people has over 75,000! -
You will be confusing too many people with your advice. Many people get a TM30 because the hotel they are staying in the night (s) before they go to immigration ANYWHERE in Thailand did it from the hotel and immigration checks it when you are there. You can ask for proof at hotel and also bring it with you to immigration. For example earlier this year I was in Hua Hin the day before I went to Hua Hin immigration and got 30 day extension, the year before I was in Patong the day before and went there for 30 day extension another time I was in Bangkok the night before etc...Many didn't even ask to see it so I DO NOT give it to them ( Hua Hin for example ) . Hotels in Jomtien have to provide/ do a TM30 for you as well so a large majority of people were not staying in Jomtien weeks and weeks before they arrived at Jomtien immigration so the hotel did it the first day/ night they arrived. Then you can also bring proof from hotel with you. If a TM30 done a day after you arrive in let's say Chiang Mai is done then you travel to Jomtien 2 weeks later I don't think Jomtien will want THAT TM30. They will want one from a place in Jomtien.

I don't think you can beat the quality of American health care especially if you live in certain cities like Boston. My state has about 98% insured citizens and a procedure like this is 100% covered. Hospitals are outstanding. Rich Europeans and others come and pay full price often. No lines no waiting.

Thailand ranks bottom of the pile with ASEAN English score

She understood your cheddar cheese story? Hmmm -
The same countries who think it's okay to leave " markers" like a magazine or towel on a chair or chaise lounge, usually positioned closest to the sea or pool then they go off to have breakfast and do a 1/2 day tour of the area and come back hours later to use their chair or lounger and think it's totally okay!

My Thai nephew who I saw last night for the first time since April is just over 5 now. He was speaking eight + word sentences with me last night but goes to a private school here. His parents are both Thai. There must be some major differences in private schools. He lives in BKK. Starting to take Chinese after school as well. -

That's why modern vernacular English is most important. Vernacular English speakers know what pavement is and would not call it a sidewalk!! Don't even start with British " tarmac" or WTF is a lory!!?? lol. Even the first poster on here used the word " chav" that is not vernacular English. Most English speakers have no idea what that means. Don't fall behind or no one will understand your English soon! Texting with other English speakers from different countries certainly helps everyone stay on course as well. You have to text what the majority know. -
Thailand could extend visa-free entry from 30 to 60 days
alex8912 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You had to show a bank statement don't text false things. The employer info is for METV. A tourist visa app for 60 days MUST provide a recent bank statement with I believe is about $600 USD. I did one a few weeks ago as well. -
You don't really mention WHY you want to stay consecutive ONLY days in Thailand OP?? But if you are aiming at " about 5.5 months " as you stated it's pretty easy to get a 60 day tourist visa in your home country and extend 30 days easily in country. Then take a short holiday anywhere like Saigon KL etc for week or so. Enjoy another place or a new place and return to Thailand visa exempt for 30 days and extend easily 30 more days in country. Then go to your home country. A METV would work as well with just one short trip out. Why keep 800k here in Thailand if you are away 6.5 months?? You also won't have to do the 90 day report here this way.

You seem to not mention that many good posters are gone now. Not just the ones who are offended by "bad behavior of others" Many of them were pushed out by moderators and extreme over posters who seemed to control the whole forum. I can think of one poster still on here who must have made hundreds leave because of his complete nonsense and posting freedoms. Also what you may consider is name calling another poster may not. How can you not understand that? I think you do need to be more aware of language changes over the years. You really are not there yet. You have referred to someone " scoring points " in two posts now. Why do you equate name calling with " scoring points"? You seem to contradict yourself.

What the hell is a dressing gown? I hope it's not something British. -
Honestly maybe the term drama queen does apply to you after that post. You simply can't have a forum LIKE THIS ONE. Not the one you have not mentioned. Without some name calling the entire forum would have closed down!! If you really are offended by the term " drama queen " said at a moment when SEVERAL other actually rude terms could or should have been used then the problems you or others have is quite internal and have to be dealt with perhaps professionally. This is NOT the place for deep serious people at any level. There are certainly forums for that elsewhere. One other thing that I will point out is that people yes actually teenagers to 90 + post on here. Language has changed my friend from generation to generation and for example Americans may say something that they feel is extremely light and funny that an old British guy will take offense to. On the other hand another old British ( dude) will think it's funny because he has been exposed to the term many times already and not be uptight.
