  1. Building rules in my area says, one meter from neighbor, and only 50 centimer if no openings, i.e. doors/windows. Two meters inside own land when facing public area and road, 3 meters from water edge. Have you checked the local building regulations..?
  2. Because it's already legal since 7th February last year (2021), read more HERE...????
  3. Normal requirement for Yellow House Book, mine was even more difficult, almost as applying for permanent citizenship but I however didn't need an interview in Thai language – I could use a translator – and I didn't need to sing the national hymn by heart (the staff at tessa ban shall be very happy that I didn't sing...????). Some places the requirements for Thai witnesses is that one shall be a neighbor and one shall be government employed...????
  4. RSV infections are on the rise in many areas, there will soon be a vaccine or two choices available, they are both in successful trials.
  5. If Thailand want more snowbirds, they should make it easy to stay for up to 180 days, perhaps with a special "snowbird visa".
  6. She will need parents accept to renew a passport as minor. My experience is that both parents need to be present in the passport office, but check if a power of attorney is possible, it was not in my case some years back, I needed to be present in person.
  7. Bang Por is quiet and if you find the right bays, there is great beach there. The area is amount the more affordable for accommodation, and both the number of restaurant and convenience stores have increased during the last few years...????
  8. It has changed a bit, beer bars with ladies are not as good a business on Samui as it once was, but there are still some bars in Lamai; clientel has changed to more families and the young ones head for Chaweng and parties...????
  9. Maenam is still a great beach and a good area - I've been living here permanently for 16 years now - and at the moment many affordable bungalows for rent. However, be aware of the monsoon-season during November-December...???? Maenam Beach, August 2022...
  10. As @Kenny202 says, you have no rights as father, just being named on the birth certificate when you are not legally married to the mother. You will to my knowledge need a DNA-test and a visit to the family court to be recognized as father. Later, when a child is 7 years or older, it can be done at the amphor district-office, but both the mother, the child and the father needs to be present and confirm it (I did it that way, but have no problems with my girlfriend and mom to our child). Often some funds can clear a problem in Thailand, which could be a lump sum or ongoing child support - which should not begin before the family court has approved you as father, you will need a lawyer to help you - being recognized as father might mean that you shall financially support your child, this is beginning to take place in Thailand and often heard figurs are 3,000 to 5,000 baht per month. Being registered as father, you can have the birth-certificate and court-result legalized and apply for a Cyprus passport - I presume Cyprus follows the EU-rules, after the so-called "Genovese against Malta"-case i 2011 - so a child born abroad with a foreign mother can obtain citizenship in an EU country if the father is citizen in an EU country. It might be valuable for your child to have dual nationality and a passport from an EU country.
  11. You can get the capacitor at Supot Electric.
  12. You have 20 kg luggage included in the ticket, so it must be extra 10 kg; i.e. in total 30 kg...????
  13. Nobody seems to answer. To my knowledge you are fully responsible - all for one and one for all - in an ordinary partnership, if it's a partnership limited only one partner needs to be fully responsible. Employees can be partner and anybody else, but do pay social security as proof of employment. You should be able to find details with a Google-search. If you are married to a Thai and your extension-of-stay is based on marriage, you can obtain a work permit. If your non-O extension-of-stay is based on retirement, you need to change to a non-B visa abroad and re-enter on that visa.
  14. Can one presume - when borrowing the name - that Capone pays tax...
  15. Only if and when your bring your overseas earning into Thailand. If your bring the earnings into Thailand the same calendar year that they are earned, the "imported" funds are fully income taxabe in Thailand. However, if your import the earnings the following calendar year - or any later time - the earnings has magically converted to savings, which are taxfree to import...
  16. I use my Thai phone in Europe. Connecting to Wifi, you can use Internet and apps without a data subscription. If you need data, you need to buy a package, like the mentioned one.
  17. Not much, according to the experts; a power station meltdown is 100 to 1000 times worse than a nuclear bomb. However, it might depend of the number of nuclear bombs being detonated.
  18. Gai is still there and doing well, but her mother - who used to be cashier with the money in a plastic busket - has died, more than 90 years old (my photo is from 2014)...
  19. The gun used in the latest shooting was a private legally registered pistol. However this part makes good sense... He also said he ordered police nationwide to step up measures to prevent rampage and seriously tackle illegal drug cartels of all sizes, especially those operating in communities.
  20. DHL - which the locals prefer - or Ninja might be good choices, if Kerry don't move at the moment; strange, Kerry is huge on Samui.
  21. An excellent place to look for a Honda Click would be the Honda dealer, situated in Maenam, about 5 kilometers from Bo Phut. Street View HERE (click on arrow upper left map map). There are numerous possibilities for renting something in the Bo Phut area - mind you, Bo Phut is huge and includes Chaweng, but you probably think of the area close to Fisherman Village and surrounding neighborhood - but with a 5k budget, if it's baht and per month, you shall look up in the smaller sois (streets) at the land side; however 10k baht a month would be more realistic to find something of a normalle acceptable standard for foreigners. I've marked one around 10k baht per month at the map in the link HERE, there might be several possibilities both in that area and on that side om the Ring Road, the main road around the island. If it's 5k baht per day your possibilities for accommodation increases a lot, you can even find beach front pool villas when in that level... You will find lots of both negatives and positives about Samui if you check the threads in the local forum - some hater the island, and some loves it - best thing is to check it out yourself for a few weeks or a month before you settle too permanently; and don't regard the monsoon season from October till December as all year round weather condition...????
  22. Yes, as @DrJack54 says, if you are staying in Thailand based on retirement-extension-of-stay and has a re-entry permit, you don't need to do anything; it was changed two years ago, so your initial TM30 is still valid, if you haven't moved. Staying temporary in a hotel is no problem, but remember to confirm your TM30-registered address when it's time in the 90-day system, and also insert your last entry, so the system updates, as the TM6 entry form is not used at the moment...????
  23. Try to look at the ASEAN NOW calendar - it's wrong - and that's what I'm saying, Lent is ending the 10th October...
