Compared to minimum wage the Thai fuel prices are high, but calculated in money many countries have higher prices. In my Danish home country they pay 16-17 DKK for one liter fuel - diesel is at present a tiny bit more expensive than gasoline - which equals to about $2.50 or in the level of 85 baht; prices might even be little higher today. A Thai worker on minimum pay need to work close to 1 hour to pay for 1 liter gasoline - i.e. 330 baht / 8 = 41.25 baht - while a Dane paid the lowest salary level needs to work 10-15 minutes after deduction of income tax to pay for 1 liter gasoline, in spite of the Danish fuel price in money is double as high.

These pebbles on Maenam's beach are lava stones, they have floated to Samui from quite far away, probably from a recent eruption in Malaysia og Philippines some 2,500 kilometers away... Lava pebbles originating from when hot lava, filled with gas and mainly carbon-dioxide (CO2), hit the cold sea – so yes, they are like polystyrene foam and can float in the sea for years before they get filled with water and sinks – says little about from how far away debris on beaches can originate, which is the point with the comment here. There are said to be a lot more of these pebbles right now on the eastern beaches like Chaweng than Maenam that face north, which makes sense as the lava stones floats in from east or south. I haven't been on Chaweng's beach the last few weeks, perhaps others have noticed if there are any there...????

Monthly Income Certificare
khunPer replied to Shannoblic's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
What you need is a 12-moth statement where your monthly FTT-transfers from abroad is shown. A local Bangkok Bank branch can only provide 6-month statement, so they need to order the print from the head office in Bangkok, it normally costs 200 baht in fee and can takes some days to get. You might furthermore need a confirmation letter from the bank, which Bangkok Bank has a standard issue of their computer system, the fee use to be 100 baht for such a letter...???? -
Test & Go in Phuket with transit in Bangkok
khunPer replied to tacchan23's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You need to buy a direct ticket to HKT (Phuket) where your least leg BKK-HKT has rute number PG5XXX (X is a number), which is a sealed transit flight to Phuket operated by Bangkok Airways. Your luggage will be checked-in for HKT at the departure destination. Otherwise as Ubon Joe says, a SHA++ stop with PCR-test in Bangkok and thereafter continue as domestic the next day, which also gives you a variety of airlines to choose from...???? -
The 2022 (Thailand) Inflation Thread
khunPer replied to 2009's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
If your income comes from abroad, currency exchange rate might be more of concern - fuel price increase is Worldwide, so not much to do about it - specifically looked over a two year period, i.e. just before Covid-pandemic began, as price fluctuation during the pandemic don't say much about real annual inflation rate. I compared with my Scandinavia home-country from end of February 2020 with end of February 2022, where the consumer price increase was 5% while in Thailand it was 4%, on top currency exchange rate was almost unchanged, so little cheaper to remain in Thailand. However, looked over af 10-year period until end of February 2022 the Thai inflation was 12%, so was my home country inflation - I disregard minor decimals, less than .25 - however the currency exchange rate had changed so my Thai baht became 12% more expensive, meaning that if income is based on foreign currency the consumer price increase was up by the double, i.e. around 24%. What happens due to the crises - or whatever it might be called - in Ukraine, and price increase will probably affect many parts of the World, but in slightly different levels; Thailand might not be as bad to stay as some other places; however currency exchange rates might be the Joker for some...???? -
The could contact their Russian embassy or consulate, which could arrange chartered flights back - the airspace between Russia and Thailand is not closed, or just charter one of Middle Eastern airlines for the job if Russian aircraft cannot operate abroad - just like Thailand does, when Thai citizens are trapped abroad.

Thanks for your reply. When looking at the road sign in front of the pick-up car there is a sidewalk. I was mere asking about the actual law about parking compared to hard shoulder; and yes, various amazing parking are often seen, which is why I ask about the parking rules, when the are no "no stopping"-sign and no white/red paintings...????

Covid Insurance Renewal for O & A Visa
khunPer replied to newyorkcity1's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
O-A retirement 1-year extension - if that's what you ask for - needs a 400k baht inpatient + 40k baht outpatient health insurance for the full periode (1-year) of extension. The best insurance is one with higher coverage than modest 400k baht. The cheapest insurance is one with a self risk - i.e. deductible - like THIS ONE, click on "Download application form" to see prices. -
Returning to Thailand with New Passport
khunPer replied to Havenstreet1940's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Show both passports on entry - normally a stamp in the old passport would say "Cancelled, valid visas remain valid" - when back in Thailand get your local immigration office to move your original entry visa and valid extension of stay to your new passport, it might cost a 500 baht fee. You should receive a letter with your new passport, which the immigration office might want. Remember to update everything that use your passport number for identification, such as bank accounts and some loyalty cards, and if you don't have a Thai ID-card also eventual driver's license. -
