Thai people and their smartphones - your take?
Gsxrnz replied to henrik2000's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub

Thai drivers don't park their vehicles. They simply cease driving.

The signage which originally said the changes were from Feb 15 have now been overwritten and the effective date is now March 1st. It's logical and expedient that if the sign is being ignored, change the sign.

Because water in Thailand is able to defy gravity. Seriously, capillary action of water defies gravity. That's how plants and trees absorb water from the soil and transport it to their uppermost leaves and branches. Hold a sheet of tissue paper vertically and gently touch the surface of a glass of water and see what happens - that's capillary action, and your concrete is the tissue paper. Your paint problem is a combination of poor paint preparation, and poor building design that allows water to wick from the outer wall when it rains. Repaint everything correctly, and install a wicking barrier to prevent it happening again.

Teen mum caught on CCTV locking toddler in dog cage

The kid probably has more square footage in relation to body size than many expat's studio condos. -
I would say the paint job is very old, and guaranteed to have been done incorrectly. The paint lifting and bubbling is indicative of poor surface preparation. The "professional" painter probably didn't even clean the surface, let alone seal or prime anything. The rainwater is wicking inwards from the balcony above. The capillary action of the water has got under the paint and into the concrete, and is wicking much further inwards than any rainwater would actually reach. Only solution is a full strip down, allow any residual moisture to dry out, correctly seal and paint. You might want to seal the gap of that outer border area with silicone, and attach an aluminium strip that will prevent further wicking.

Phuket El Al flight thwarts communication hijack attempt
Gsxrnz replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I would imagine the (presumably)Israeli pilot's response to a dubious instruction to deviate his flightpath over Yemen or Syria would have been something like "far cough, Noddy". -
Government to encourage couples to have children as birth rate declines
Gsxrnz replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Humanity is up in arms over the decline in the polar bear population (which is a false narrative - they're doing just fine, despite the anti-human post-modernist Marxist narrative), but we celebrate the decline of our own population. Huxley's Brave New World is just around the corner, or perhaps we're already there? Gammas, Deltas and Epsilons - what say you? -

‘Pattaya Heat’ Action Thriller Debuts in Movie Theatres, Shot in Pattaya

I hope I'm not an unsuspecting background extra in any Walking Street scenes. -
As a Bolt frequent flyer, I must have ridden on the back of every brand of scooter available in Thailand. The two with the most comfortable suspension are the Forza and the Scoopy. The Forza is very difficult to dismount as a passenger - I do a reverse handspring off the back - often with a half-twist depending on the level of intoxication. The least comfortable are the Click and the Wave. Especially when they inflate the tyres to 60psi.

DSI seizes over 1,000 million baht from ‘Gofug’ lottery scam

I suspect the Gofugs were fudging the books and not paying the requisite 30% commission to those at the top of the hierarchical triangle. -

Altercation Turns Violent: Englishman and wife injured in Knife Duel
Gsxrnz replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Whenever I hear a friend or acquaintance discussing marital issues with their Thai wives/GF, the only advice I offer is "hide the knives and scissors". -
It sounds like you've never hung wallpaper before. I'm not suggesting it's an overly difficult task, but speaking from experience, there is a certain knack required that is only learned by mucking the job up on the first attempt. I agree with jacko, paint it.
