British woman jailed after collecting debt from Thai millionaire
OneMoreFarang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes, not too smart. But probably she thinks she is smart. That is even worse. -
Maybe ask yourself first what outcome you expect, how long you would be willing to fight, and how much you would be willing to pay for that fight. And then look at how much time and money it would cost you to just move. Is it fair? Maybe not. But compare your options.

British woman jailed after collecting debt from Thai millionaire

I asked AI, here is the summary. To make it easy I called the people Linda and Somchai: Conclusion While Linda has the right to demand payment from Somchai in Thailand, her ability to enforce that demand through legal means will depend on navigating Thai legal processes and potentially obtaining a local court judgment. Engaging legal expertise familiar with both UK and Thai law would be advisable for effective debt recovery. And here are more details: https://www.perplexity.ai/search/let-s-say-somchai-is-a-thai-pe-sPAaDbtvS9uu45im6lNnsQ -
British woman jailed after collecting debt from Thai millionaire

Ok, a person can go there and ask nicely. But that's about it. I don't think there is any legal right to demand payment. And thinking about Thailand's defamation rights maybe just the fact that they woman demanded payment, and maybe told this other people in the office of that guy, is already defamation. I don't know the details. And it seems to me she also does not know the legal details. Only because we feel it would be fair to do so and so does not make it legal. -
British woman jailed after collecting debt from Thai millionaire

I am surprised about many reactions here. Imagine a Thai person would visit the UK, maybe on a tourist visa. Let's call her Noi for this post. Then Noi visits the office from Peter in the UK and tells Peter he should pay her for her work in Thailand. And then? Maybe Peter thinks she has no right to ask for the money because she didn't provide the service. Or he tells hers he will pay her when he is in Thailand. If an invoice is issued in country A, as far as I know nobody can just go to country B to collect the money. Obviously, we all like to get paid. But who could judge if the person provided the service like she said? Who can say if the customer agreed to the payment and payment conditions? It's always a question of the perspective. Only because a woman from the UK wants money from a rich guy in Thailand doesn't mean she is right, and he is wrong. -

She should expect that in the UK UK laws are enforced and in Thailand Thai laws are enforced. Does she have a legal right to collect money for a UK invoice in Thailand? I doubt it. Obviously, we all like to get paid. But we also should be aware of the legal situation. And if she visited the person in Thailand and demanded money for a UK invoice and maybe she threatened the person then that might be illegal in Thailand. Is it fair? Not really. But it's a good idea for all of us to follow the local laws wherever we are - even if we think it's not fair. -
Really? I pay income tax in Thailand. I also pay VAT, etc. I prefer that that money is used productive. Obviously, lots of money is wasted in many areas, not just above. But the above article is about wasting taxpayers' money on hormone treatments. This is why I commented about wasting tax on hormone treatment.

That's not what I said. a) People kill themselves for many reasons. And some who were rescued kill themselves later. And some just live a miserable life after they were rescued. People who are happy or see a bright future don't kill themselves. b) It is a myth that if some people would only get medical attention like hormones, then they would be happy. And obviously it's a myth that if they don't get that medical attention then they will kill themselves It's like women who go to a clinic to get bigger tits or a bigger ass or whatever is currently in fashion. Are they all happy after such procedure? No. Would they have killed themselves without that procedure? Unlikely. Would they all be better off concentrating on their mental problems? Yes.

What did she expect? That she demands the money and gets the money, and everybody will be happy ever after? And maybe she was arrested for no reason. Or she was arrested for things she didn't understand or didn't want to understand.- 159 replies

Why? Some of us like big cities. Some of us like food in restaurants from all over the world. That's what you find in tourist areas and big cities. That doesn't mean you have to live in these areas, but I don't think they should be avoided.

Why do people still deny the Holocaust ever happened
OneMoreFarang replied to Rimmer's topic in Off the beaten track
Why are people stupid? They just are. Why do people believe in one of those gods? See above. -
If people (any gender) want to kill themselves then let them kill themselves. And that argument stinks. Because who knows how many would kill themselves if A or B or C wouldn't happen? And how many who transitioned, including hormones, regret it later? Just let nature do its job. They don't NEED hormones.

Where does she get her information from? Looking at certain (social) media I am sure one can get that impression. But maybe she just doesn't want to live in Thailand and is looking for a rational reason to convince you.

The worst part of my life was when I had to join the military. A total waste of time with lots of idiots and a few good guys. -

She is a woman. Women are always innocent, especially if they drink too much. Men on the other hand are always guilty, especially if they drink. Didn't you know that? -
