Foundation Seeks 50,000 Signatures to Oppose Thai Casinos
OneMoreFarang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
And lots of adults, including my girlfriend, just pay it for fun from time to time. Gambling in all kinds of forms, including the legal and illegal lotteries, is something millions and millions of Thais do all the time. Most of them enjoy it and don't bet the whole farm. Making gambling legal was mentioned in Thai politics since decades. And now? Make it legal for expensive casinos and keep it illegal for Noi and Somchai? Gambling, including casinos for everyday Thai people, should be properly regulated and taxed. And illegal loan sharks should go to jail. That would be good for Thailand. But obviously that is not what the Shinawatras and their greedy lackeys want. -
Western Food - when only this will do !
OneMoreFarang replied to CharlieH's topic in Western Food in Thailand
When I arrived in Thailand, long time ago, I somehow had this idea to only eat Thai food. I think I did this for maybe one or two months and then I was really fed up with it. And for some time I ate only farang food. Then not much later I adjusted to eat whatever I feel like at that moment. Sometimes Thai food, sometimes food from "back home", sometime Japanese, Korean, Lebanese, whatever. Living in the middle of Bangkok here it is easy to find whatever I want. And sometimes I do it myself. I.e. decent steak is very expensive outside, and doing it myself is a fraction of the price and it tastes just fine. -

Thaksin Vows to Fix Thai Economy Amid Claims of Mismanagement
OneMoreFarang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Where does the mismanagement come from? Maybe too many corrupt and incompetent people in charge? When the Thai justice system doesn't keep criminals in jail or doesn't even convict them, then nobody should be surprised about mismanagement. Maybe some journalists should ask Thaksin who he is to be on stage and make demands?- 36 replies

Foundation Seeks 50,000 Signatures to Oppose Thai Casinos

It's obviously all about money. No surprise there. I wonder what will happen the next time when my gf plays cards with her friends for a few baht somewhere in a small village. Likely the police will come again and arrest them or demand bribes because they gamble. What a joke! -
The easy way to do is that your Thai girlfriend opens a Co. Ltd company. She needs one other shareholder. She can be i.e. 99% shareholder and someone else, i.e. the accountant can be a second shareholder. Then the company employs people. I have no idea about employees from neighboring countries. After all is setup if you want to be up to 49% shareholder you can do that. Just buy the shares. Cost to setup and run a company vary tremendously. Most likely a Thai accountant is the cheapest option. And if you need only Thai language then that is obviously cheaper. If a farang should work in the company that adds lots of conditions and extra cost.

Thai motorcyclist hits South Korean man on zebra crossing - video

They should show videos like above to all the people waiting in line at the passport control at the airports. If tourists see this again and again, then maybe they learn about Thailand. -
British woman jailed after collecting debt from Thai millionaire

Thank you for your insider knowledge. You should be proud of yourself. -
Obviously, the government of any country can change what they do. The important point here is that Trump did it alone and without forewarning and delay. But that is obviously his "style".

Start saving on the huge spendings like the many billions for military hardware for Israel!

How much did they spend on software? How much did they spend on training for the teachers? Please publish the details of the requirements. Which company bid? What prices were offered? And why didn't they use the existing hardware = the mobile "phones" basically everybody has already? Another Shinawatra scam?

Thai motorcyclist hits South Korean man on zebra crossing - video
OneMoreFarang replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
How often do you see drivers and riders ignoring zebra crossings and red lights in Thailand? I see it every day, often hundreds of times i.e. red lights ignored by 20 or more bikes at a time at Sukhumvit Asoke junction, about every minute. And the police house is directly at that junction. -

30,000 GBP is a lot of money. What do you mean with "private arrangement"? It seems he doesn't want to pay, for whatever reasons. So, the question if of course what is the legal situation? What legal options does she have to get her money (assuming he actually owes her that money)? -
I think the scariest part is that in the moment nobody really knows the details. People claim this and that. But is all the information true? But the market obviously reacts already. Because maybe it is true. AI is such a hype and so many people invest in things which look promising, the bubble is very unstable. And I guess what just happened could happen again and again. Or maybe not. It's a high-risk investment, between making huge amounts of money and losing it all.

So maybe just offer them 2000B more. Maybe then you can stay. I had a similar situation a long time ago. The owner told me that he wanted that I move out (according to the contract) so he could move in. I offered to pay more, he accepted. Mostly I did this because I hate moving and all that hassle. And likely a new place would not have been cheaper.

Imagine Thai police would enforce existing Thai traffic laws. But that is obviously one of those crazy farang dreams. Why should this ever happen in Thailand?- 40 replies

Just in general about motorcycle shops. For many Thais and probably some or many farangs, the most important part is that it is cheap. For some farangs, and it seems very few Thais, high quality service and high-quality material is most important. So, one shop might be considered good by many people but that doesn't mean it is good for others who expect different things. I.e. I have a bike which according to the manual should only use a few brands of expensive synthetic oil. In several of the official service centers they suggested cheap oil. I had to ask them specifically for the recommended synthetic oil and they looked at me like: why does this stupid farang want to pay too much...
