  1. Was that a smart decision? I came to Thailand when I was relative young and flexible. I work here, had time to learn the language, the way of life, and and and. And I will retire here. How will a person who lived his whole life i.e. in Europe or America adapt to any other radically different country? Is it possible to adapt i.e. with age 65? Learn a new an very different language, different culture, etc.? Yes, it is possible but for sure it is also very difficult. I wouldn't recommend this to anybody who didn't spend an extended time here on holiday.
  2. The police could make a fortune. And as usual they do nothing. Is there something like dereliction of duty for the traffic police?
  3. I am sure someone will also mention the Thonglor Pet Hospital It's private and expensive, so better think twice before you go there.
  4. Chula Small Animal Hospital They take care of hundreds of dogs every day. It's good and not expensive. https://www.chula.ac.th/en/cu-services/medical-services/small-animal-teaching-hospital/
  5. Is it possible that they don't think a lot before they do it? And maybe they are too shy to buy condoms?
  6. I was a couple of time in Phnom Penh and I liked it. They have a fantastic taxi app, everything from TukTuks to limousines. That helps to relax when you know nobody scams you only because you are new in town. The people seem to be nice (in general) and they have lots of pretty girls over there. And I even found a wonderful coffee shop with great espresso in a garden. Until now I don't like the language but I am sure one get used to it.
  7. And before that and ever since. I wonder why still so many people visit that mafia island.
  8. Little to no impact. Who wants war? Will the USA or anybody in Europe fight with the Ukrainians against Russia? I don't think so. They will all talk a lot and maybe there will be sanctions against Russia and all that. But at the end of the day I think the question is: Who really cares about Ukraine? Anyone? Obviously they all have to pretend Ukraine is super important and independent and all that. But is it? Which president and prime minister is willing to send soldiers to Ukraine to fight the Russians? Anybody? My prediction: Not much will happen. And nobody will really care because people in "the west" are fed up with wars.
  9. I want to look into the cavity of a closed dropped ceiling. My idea is to drill just a small hole or maybe use an existing (small) hole and then get an overview about where cables are. Maybe there are also drains, etc. As far as I know cable detectors only detect cables if they are very near. I.e. they wouldn't detect a cable which is mounted on a concrete ceiling if I have the cable detector 20cm below that ceiling on the dropped ceiling. This is a sample picture. In this case it is obviously easy to look because the panels can be removed. In some ceilings the panels can not be removed. That is what I have in mind.
  10. Thanks for the link. But the problem with those is the same problem which I described above. Here is the comment from one of those cameras: "This camera is near focus distance camera the focus distance is 3cm to 8cm. if the focus distance over 8cm it can't get the clear picture." It seem they all have a similar short focal length. I guess with a longer focal lens they have a different name...
  11. So you tell us you won't come to Thailand to see your wife because you don't want to waste 10,000 THB or something like that, correct? What do you do in the UK if the government wastes your money? Do you refuse to pay tax? Or what? I think sometimes we just have to accept the world like it is and accept some compromises, even if we don't like it.
  12. I am looking for a camera with flexible arm to connect to my Android smartphone. Something like a endoscope camera but with a view of a couple of meters. It seems endoscope cameras focus a few centimeter. What I am looking for is a small camera which I can put through a hole in a dropped ceiling or other places to be able to inspect that area. I.e. where are cables in the ceiling, etc. There are many cameras like this out there. But it seem they all only focus to objects which are a few cm in front of the lens. I want something with adjustable focus up to a few meter. And best case it should include a light source. Do they exist? What are they called? Any links? Thanks!
  13. that reminds me of a waterproofed watch which I had many years ago. One there was a little water behind the glass it took weeks until it evaporated.
  14. How many guys who shoot somebody think first how long they will go to jail for that crime? I guess it's more like: "I will kill him now" and not other thought at the same time.
  15. I don't remember too many Thai ladies asking to borrow money. Normally they offer services for money. But I remember many family members and "friends" asking for money and they obviously all said they will pay it back, and soon, and 100% sure...
  16. Really? What should the government do? Teach it in school like English? With the same success? And about those adults: How many adults have a healthy view of sex and are willing to talk about that?
  17. Until he tells you to go down on your knees...
  18. I think we should be nice to the ladies and ask them how they want to pay it back.
  19. Thanks for your comments, I appreciate them. You last sentence reminded me of the Apple Newton which I bought for lots of money a long time ago. It just didn't work the way it was supposed to work. I guess that experiment is still in the back of my mind when I think about Apple and spending a lot of money...
  20. I read this when I was about 25 years old. It was very interesting. I can highly recommend it.
  21. To answer your question: no, I never used a more expensive phone. But I have a fast Desktop PC with big screen, big keyboard and high quality mouse. I also own a fast high quality (but not top of the line) ThinkPad. If I want to watch a video (and not just see the news guy) then I do that on a big screen. If I want to type a lot then I do that on a good (10 finger) keyboard. And if I want to download big files then I do that on the Desktop or ThinkPad, because I won't use those large files on my mobile. A friend has always the latest iPhone. He showed it to me. And it looks nice - apart from the plastic cover that protects it. But after he showed it to me I never had this "I want that" feeling. In a way the funny thing is that from time to time I buy expensive gadgets which are nice but which I seldom use. But I never had the urge to a top smartphone simply because I don't see the additional value for me personally.
  22. Yes! It works in many ways. I am sure you can easily find many books and many videos. Or just do it. Think positive - and keep it realistic. Obviously it won't "work" all the time but just think about the following: If you go for a job interview with positive thinking like: "I have a good feeling about this, they will hire me." Or you arrive for the same interview with "no, they will never hire me". What do you think will work better? Same for a date with a girl and lots of other situations.
