  1. I didn't particularly like my parents. And I know lots of people with children who "misbehave" and don't like their parents. Obviously, there are also some situations where parents and children are happy together, also later in life. Children are, especially in Thailand, a huge financial burden. I wouldn't want my children going to a cheap school. So, option 1, I would have to work mostly for the children, option 2 send them to a cheap school, or option 3 having no children. I like option 3. If I would earn a lot of money (lets say >10k USD per month) then maybe option 1 would be acceptable.
  2. But then, how many people who lose their mind know that they lose their mind? Obviously, it is a difficult situation for the people around them, but the people who lose their mind don't know it (at least as fas as I know).
  3. Sure. Not that this is the purpose of my life. We all see people every day. Back home those are often old people. Here, there are many beautiful/cute girls. Now, it's not so difficult to decide which situation I, and most other guys, prefer. Just going to a shop like 7/11 or the supermarket, "at home" I remember lots of old fat women who were clearly unhappy at the cash register. Here, there are often smiling girls behind the counter. IMHO that improves life a lot.
  4. I still enjoy my life. But I don't see that it will get better in the years to come.
  5. Is it more fun to have sex with educated women?
  6. Then, in the hindsight, do you think you lived "wrong"? Obviously, I also made some mistakes in my life, but in general I think I choose a good path.
  7. Isn't it? Obviously it's not only the girls. There is the weather, the food, the friendly people. But the girls help a lot. When I go out of the building I see most likely our very cute security guard. Maybe I go the supermarket or 7/11 and I see some pretty girls there. Or I just walk along the street or go to Terminal 21. Pretty girls everywhere. At "home" I would see most likely 10 times more old people than here. And I would be lucky if 1 out of 10 women is not ugly. I think it's just nice being surrounded by pretty girls.
  8. When I was a child, we made holiday in Spain and the Canarian Islands. I liked it, mostly because it was sunny with a beach. I guess I could live there, and it was fine. But after living in Thailand with pretty girls all over the place for decades, Spain would definitely not be any improvement.
  9. When I was young, I remember some songs telling me life gets better when one is older, and I laughed about them. Now I am getting old, and I am not looking forward to getting any older. Maybe the people who worked in some boring job all their life and who had to take care of children are happy when they finally retire. No work anymore, no annoying children anymore, time for hobbies. Personally, I like my job. I never wanted children and never had children. Sometimes my life was busier, sometimes not so much. I always had a home, nice enough food, I lived where I wanted to live, had friends, had my hobbies, and I lived happily most of my life. I always lived in the now and didn't save a lot for a future when I am old. I am still ok with money, but I don't have enough until I am 90. But why would I want to be 80 or 90? It's not getting better. How about you? Is there anything in your life that is more fun with 60, 70, 80, 90 or whatever? Or is it just living another year, with a little more medial issues, with a little less power?
  10. It depends. Sure, it's nice to always get what we want. But if I would have the choice between living where I was born with steak everyday, or in Thailand with Kao Pat, I guess I would still prefer Thailand.
  11. How often do you tell Thai parents what to do? Is it that all Thai children behave? Or do you like to pick on the outsiders and pretend you are the big guy? You told a Russian mother what to do, yeah, you should be proud of yourself. Why don't you look for a challenge?
  12. If fast is your priority, then go to one of those second-hand dealers and take whatever they offer. That should be fast. If you want more money and can wait longer, than fast is obviously not your priority.
  13. When I was young, I read somewhere that they are only two kinds of outcomes of marriages. People who divorce and people who think about divorce but haven't done it yet. My parents never divorced, but they blamed each other how good life could be without the other. And then I saw how treacherous and very expensive divorce can be. And that's when I decided I will never marry. I am living in mostly happy long-term relationship without marriage. Sometimes I think she is such a nice woman, maybe I should marry her. But then, sometimes she has a bad mood for some time and I am happy that I am not married. I could finish without bad financial consequences. I know this, she knows this, and that's IMHO the best way to keep a nice relationship.
  14. I own two motorcycles. One which is middle size and fun, and one which is small and still fun. I don't need a car in my everyday life. And I know that EV vehicle fires don't happen very often. But they happen. And if there would be many more EVs, then there would be many more EV fires in inaccessible locations. I.e. an EV car fire in a steel construction building can make that building unsafe. Is it a big risk now? No. Is it a risk? Yes.
  15. On Rama II it will be safe. With that construction site and 3km/h "speed" the risk of accidents is not so high anymore.
  16. Somehow, I find this EV vehicle hype all over the world funny. Lots of people want to tell us all that EVs are easier to maintain and so much better in so many ways. Great, then they should sell like hot cakes. But apparently that is not happening. Maybe if the people in charge want to promote them, then they should do everything so that people actually want them. Make it easy to charge them fast everywhere. Adress concerns about fire-risks. If the infrastructure is there, then people will buy those cars. And if not, then not. What's the point of making them cheaper if people don't want to use them?
  17. It's almost funny that that always happens with criminals who are somehow related to the people in charge - and not only in Thailand.
  18. I like profile picture like this and comments like that. I read them once, and then they go in the garbage bin - in this forum called Ignore List. Problem solved.
  19. Thanks I think what I really want to know is a nice way to tell them. I do business with businesses and in principle they should not be surprised when everything gets more expensive over time. But sometimes they behave like children, who just like to complain that the world is so bad, and now they have to pay more. I remember with a hotel, I knew their prices from the lunch buffet over the years, and I could easily show them that they increased their prices by more than I did. But with other businesses I don't know what they charge and it's not so easy to compare.
  20. This should be in a business forum, but it seems there is no business forum here anymore. If there is, then admins, please move this. I work since decades in Thailand, officially and with work permit and all that. And I charge for my computer service mostly per hour. Over the years, I increased my prices mostly for new clients and mostly I kept the same rates for existing clients. But obviously it makes sense to also increase the prices for existing clients over time. In my experience farang clients understand this. But it seems some (or all?) Thai clients don't like that. Like, I am your customer already for 10 years, why do you want to increase your rates now? Maybe I should ask them if they still get the same salary as 10 years ago and if they still sell their products and services with no price increases. Do you have any tips how to explain reasonable price increases to existing Thai customers?
  21. I guess over the year the meaning of that tattoo will change: Originally: Come, let's do it. I like it and I make money with it. Later: Go away! Same words, different meaning.
